How Do You Know if You're a Nerd?

What does it truly mean to be a nerd? Is it about unabashedly diving into obscure tech topics or passionately immersing ourselves in the latest gadgets? And here's the fun part: what's the nerdiest or geekiest thing you've ever done? Did you build an epic PC rig? Cosplay as your favorite character? Esëa aldarin sercëa?

Show us your inner geek 🤓 and let's unite, revel in our nerdiness, and geek out together!

Follow the CodeNewbie Org and #codenewbie for more discussions and online camaraderie!

I just got a laptop, and the first thing I told my dad was boot times with Ubuntu compared to boot times with Windows 11. I'd say that that's a pretty good example.

I'm not sure, I would say you know a looooot of things about a topic 98% of the people don't care about. And not only for money, you just feel the need to know a lot about it.
Does that sounds right?

I think that is easy and if you like something of this list you are a nerd:

  • Matrix the movies
  • StartWars I, II, III, IV, V, VI
  • Sci-Fi movies like Alien, Predator, Godzilla, etc.
  • Good videogames like The Last Us, God of War, Halo (this is questionable) jaja
  • You pass more time in the terminal than in the operative system
  • You have a mecanical keybord and mouse gaming But all this is subjetive and is only my opinion.

Nerd

One whose IQ exceeds his weight.

Geek

A person of high intelligence who typically does not fit into popular social groups. Geeks tend to make friends with other social outcasts with similar hobbies and/or interests.

I don't have friends.

Also, last time I had the flue, I made a pong game with an arduino and 2 potentiometers by soldering analogic output to TV RCA input. My wife forbids me to have the flu since...
