Last week, we traveled back in time to the 80's... this week, we're going back even further to the decade before. The seventies brought us all sorts of new fun genres and sounds. From Glam Rock to Punk, Funk & Disco, and the beginnings of Hip Hop... many a genre originated in the decade. So, dust off your vinyl collection, and let's take a look listen to some groovy tunes from the 70's era.

Heck yes, Chris! I love that you have these playlists all teed up ready to go, haha.

You're making me wanna do the same. I'm a YouTube Premium guy and don't have the paid version of Spotify. I think it's because I love watching live musical performances a lotta the time, but there are definitely some great perks to Spotify. I think I can probs make playlists on YouTube too so might have to take that route.

Anyway, looking through the preview of your list now and seeing lots that I like (Allman Bros, Jim Croce, Faces, The Band, Paul Simon, etc.) and some that I don't know at all or don't know well (Gordon Lightfoot, America, Todd Rundgren, Stone Poneys). Gonna have to tune in and give some of these a listen... I always appreciate being turned onto new old stuff! 🙌

I adore this recently, @michaeltharrington would recognize this easily. Released in late 70's

The original Beggin' song by The Four Season & Frankie Valli in 67', popularized by Shocking Blue in 74, by Madcon in 2007, and Måneskin in 2022.

And the 69' Shocking Blue's 'Venus' that I got from Netflix's Queen's Gambit

And Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frank Sinatra, but I'm not sure if this 70's or older or even not the original one.

Excellent suggestions, Dendi! 😀

Haha, love that you started with "Open Your Eyes" (little throwback to my Common "The Light" suggestion 2 weeks ago) ... that YouTube video you pointed me to was unavailable for me, so I 'm gonna drop a US-friendly version:

I'm gonna have to dig into these other suggestions of yours! I know Frankie Valli pretty well (my wife's cousin was in Jersey Boys, haha) but don't know this song by title.

Thanks for the tunes, as always! 🙌

I just listened to "Venus" and wow! I only knew of this song from a shaving commercial back in the day (Venus razor blades)... it's cool to hear the actual tune now. I'm digging it!

I'm fairly musically illiterate, but I discovered a track in a Borderlands 3 DLC called "The Compactor will Junk You" that seems to be pretty good for focus for me. I tend to like soundtrack pieces and percussion-heavy pieces.

This track is infinitely better during combat, but it still helps get the flow going.

Oooo I love it! I'm feeling the industrial sounding percussion. It just slightly reminds me of the Tom Waits song "Clap Hands":

The song I am listening is a collab of KR$NA and FRENCHTHEKID. It's a drill vibe song. You should check it out.

Gotta give it up for the rise of reggae in the 70's!

This performance by Bob Marley & The Wailers playing "Stir It Up" in 73 is just so funky and chill:

One of my favorite records of all time came out in 1971! It's not on Spotify in solidarity with Neil Young's decision to pull his music after the Joe Rogan deal last year.

Joni Mitchell is soooooooo talented. Her ability to fuse folk & jazz with poetic songwriting is just outstanding. Thanks for sharing!
