Last week, we got weird. This week, I wanna go the other direction! Pop music (aka popular music) is typically more accessible to the masses and most often conforms to established musical traditions... though that's not set in stone! But even if it is lacking in originality, that doesn't make it any less cool or enjoyable! So, who are your favorite pop artists and what radio-friendly songs do you like to tune into? I wanna listen to some of your mainstream favorites and hear why you're particularly into what you're into!
How we do
In this weekly series, folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they've been listening to recently + browse others suggestions. You can follow the suggested genre if you'd like, but don't feel confined to it; you're free to suggest whatever you wanna. 🙌
If you're interested in having other discussions about music, consider following the aptly named #music discussions organization.
Play the hits! Note: you can embed a link to your song using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}
. This should work for most common platforms!
Looking forward to listening to y'all's suggestions! 🎶

Can't go wrong with some classic Lady Gaga! I have a strong memory of setting my radio alarm clock for 5 am on the day of the release of "Born This Way," because the radio station advertised that they would be playing it on the top of the hour every hour.
Choosing a favorite Gaga track is an impossible feat, but this one is definitely up there.
Ooooo heck yeah, Erin! Lady Gaga is so dope. 🔥
I will drop some pop songs here and they're probably unpopular (underated) ones, but do you know one of them?
Heck yeah, Dendi! I'm gonna tune into these today and will let ya know what I think.
I just returned from a work retreat with the DEV Team — good times! Got to meet folks IRL, do some planning for the second half of the year, and just bonding over a bunch of fun activities.
Anyway, I'm a tad behind on things and gonna need some good music to motivate me here. I know I can count on you for some good tunage! 🙌
Jumping in another topic:
In Berlin, once I started to talk about music, which I initially didin't because it semt unrelated, many of my developer friends turned out to also do music in some way or another.
I wondered it it was the same on DEV?
Could be fun to ask and then connect
Oooo that would be a good discussion thread to start up! If you're not planning on doing it yourself, would you mind if I started up something like that?
That's exactly what I had hoped you would do :)
Ooo yeah! I'm on it. And thank you for the awesome idea!
I'm gonna do it sometime early next week and try to it into the theme of Music Monday which is likely gonna be Music You've Created. But, I'll set up a separate post for all us musical folks in the DEV Community to connect.
I've been listening to this a lot on repeat lately. Love the singer's voice and the synth with a good beat.
Oooo this sounds cool! I just listened to the preview and am gonna have to pop on the full version in a wee bit. Appreciate ya chiming in here, Nick!
Of course

Woot! This is cool. I rarely listen to hip hop in non English, but I'm really digging it! I love all the ambient sounds that are mixed into the beat with the guitar... it's also super cool when they switch from rapping to singing. Good stuff, Ashish!
Always at your service. 😉
Got a bit nostalgic about Akcent — these old-school Romanian disco vibes are priceless sometimes
Old-school Romanian disco vibes sounds so intriguing to me!! I'm gonna def check out Akcent later on. Thanks for the recommendatio, Fyodor!
Speed of Light
Rockin!! I love the dynamics here... going from quiet in the verse to loud in the chorus. Kinda makes me think of the Pixies because of that. Nice suggestion, Jeferson!
