This week, I wanna give y'all the opportunity to drop music that you've made. There are so many creative folks in this community and the Venn diagram of developers who are also musicians is really quite impressive. So, go dig through those digital crates (y'know, your computer files) and find something of yours to share with the community here. If you don't have music of your own to share, that's okay... you could share music by somebody you know! Or, as always, you can drop whatever music you'd like to in this thread. Lastly, major props to @jmfayard for leaving an inspiring comment that led to this edition & for giving me the idea to create this accompanying thread - You Play Music, Too? Let's Connect!
How we do
In this weekly series, folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they've been listening to recently + browse others suggestions. You can follow the suggested genre if you'd like, but don't feel confined to it; you're free to suggest whatever you wanna. 🙌
If you're interested in having other discussions about music, consider following the aptly named #music discussions organization.
Now, lemme hear some of your tunes! Note: you can embed a link to your song using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}
. This should work for most common platforms!
Looking forward to listening to y'all's suggestions! 🎶

I haven't made any music for a long time. Here's something to start people off though, so you can feel confident that yours isn't the worst:
Made in renoise because I miss the trackers of the 90s and think music made in a spreadsheet is a good idea...
I think making art means loving things even when they are bad, because things needs to be bad for a while before they can be good.
But yours is clearly past that point! 👏🏻
OOoo, I really dig it. Nicely done!!
It's a really fun a beat with some fantastic sampling. I love that fuzzy bassy synth that is continuous throughout. Also, the drums slap!
I'll cross-post this message with a bunch of my music in it over from my other related post You Play Music, Too? Let's Connect!
Heyo!
I'm an amateur musician... mostly a singer/guitar player, but I dabble in synthesizers and drum machines too.
I also play in an aspiring band. We're currently trying to decide on a band name and have been messing around with our actual names (Michael, Ric, Jordan aka @jjklong, and Levi) to come up with something. So far, we've been calling ourselves The Jolly League of Marvelous Raptors; yeah, I know, it's super silly... perhaps a bit too silly. 🤪 Anywho, we've been fumbling around the past few months trying to put together a setlist, mostly of cover songs (but also a handful of originals) so that we can play out.
We record most of our practices... all of us plug into a Behringer XR18 mixer, put on headphones, and practice at low volume while recording digitally with Ableton.
Here's a version we recently did of Phish's "Everything's Right" that eventually jams into Kool and the Gang's "Summer Madness". Note that this is rough... it's a rehearsal and so pretty dang loose. Props to Jordan for the awesome lead vocals & amazing piano playing!
And here's a cover of "That's What Love Will Make You Do" with yours truly on vocals... another rough one from rehearsal but, it is what it is, haha!
As for my electronic stuff, I don't really have anything that I'm that proud of yet, but I'll give it a go anyway... I recorded a short beat I call "Hal's You Doing" (because it samples Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey... it also samples crickets, a cat purring, and my own voice). I recorded and performed it on my old Teenage Engineering OP-1 that I recently sold for the mixer. Because the file is .aif, you'll likely have to download it to listen to it. I wouldn't blame ya if you don't wanna do that though! 😅
I'll also add that I recorded a version of Tracy Chapman's "Gimme One Reason" with a previous group at a friend's basement party (the keyboardist and drummer are in my current group). It's a bit more polished than our practice material as we were pretty well rehearsed.
No wonder you started this series 😀
Haha!! No doubt, Dendi. I love music... it's definitely a big part of my life outside of DEV. Appreciate ya checking it out. 😀
Thanks Michael,
Happy to connect with other coders-musicians.
To discover what I do, it's probably best to start with my Polyglot Hallelujah
This hallelujah is a summary of my life because
... I started learning French because well that's where I was born
... and then met cool people in Germany and learnt German
... and then I met other cool people that enabled me to finally learn English
... and then I met my wife from Colombia so I learnt Spanish
... and then I learnt a bit of Italian, just because it sounds cool
... and then I learnt Japanese because I had great Japanese friends in Berlin
... and then I learnt Esperanto because it's such a powerful idea

That is really cool!
Muchas gracias :)
Jajaja (laughs in Spanish)
I called this playlist as
Later Season Shameless Series
I play in a band called Dead Parrot Society. We play what we call "90s revival-punk-rock" We released this EP earlier this year.
Y'all seriously rock, Kristoffer!! I dig it. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for checking us out and your kind words Michael!
This is a really cool edition of Music Monday!
I'm now like a retired music producer. But these are some of the tracks I made some years ago.
Cool to find other folks who also are into music, whether is making or curating it.
Woaaa!! These tracks are 🔥. You got some serious skills as a producer. I really really dig it. Thank ya for sharing, Juan.
Hahaha thanks for saying that, Michael. I'm glad you dig them!
I don't consider myself particularly "talented" at it. But I guess it goes to show the kinds of stuff one can do when committing to learn a skill for a period of time.
(which is mostly what I'm writing about now. 😅)
Here's my track from 2019. Haven't made a new track yet.
Oh wow, Vicente! I had no idea you made music like this. This is dope!!
Thanks, Michael! Appreciate it!
I've got this on repeat for like DAYS now as I search for the next gig and keep my head up. Chase the Light, y'all.
Oooo this is really nice, Rain! Appreciate ya sharing.
