I wanna start off by giving Common some love!

The tenderness and warmth of the song "The Light" speaks for itself. If you're lookin' for a rap song that talks about love in a respectful, uplifting way, look no further. It's also got a really vibing beat by J Dilla (who btw, is featured hammering out a beat on his MPC pad in the cover image of this post). Another thing, the music video includes Erykah Badu (Common's girlfriend at the time) and it really reflects the vibe of the song well — it ends on an image of Common covering Erykah with a blanket while he sits at the foot of her bed. The image isn't meant to be sexy, but rather caring:

Of course, that's not the only song like this by Common... there are quite a few likes this. Check out these 2 Tiny Desk Concerts by Common, one of which is with his group August Greene and features a trio of special guests — Brandy, Maimouna Youssef, and Andra Day — as the theme of the performance is Foregrounding Women.

This is AWESOME! 🙌

I'd never listened to Little Simz before and just wow... I jumped right into the song "NO THANK YOU" and am grooving to it right now.

Honestly, I'll have to go back and really intently listen to the words. Upon first listen I'm just tuning into the sounds and loving how much variation there is in this song. It's not just verse-chorus-verse-chorus with a bridge thrown in; it's more like there are movements.

I'm officially a fan... gonna have to pop on the whole album! Really appreciate ya sharing this. 😀

Still Nujabes as discussed in DJ edition discussion.

But I will add others:

And help me identify songs in this Khruangbin medley😅, some of them are familiar to my ear when I was a kid:

Dendi bringing the 🔥 as always. Your suggestions are always so on point.

Nujabes has become a fixture in my house... unparalleled beat making. I've known about Khruangbin for a hot minute now and love'em — they got a major vibe going on!

I'll need to dig into these other suggestions and will let ya know what I think!

Right now, I've got "Juicy" by The Notorious B.I.G. on repeat – that classic never gets old. And then there's "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg, a true anthem of the 90s. Speaking of which, have you seen this awesome article about where successful 90s hip-hop artists are now? It's a trip down memory lane and a cool way to see how far they've come. Check it out here: attacktheculture.com/news/successf.... Let's keep the hip-hop vibes alive and share our favorite tunes.
