Last week, I asked y'all to share some rock music with me! Y'all delivered, serving up some indie rock, power metal, space rock, and black metal. This week, I've decided to zoom in a little further and am asking for classics only. I define classics as anything that is older than 20 years, though I'm not gonna nit-pick, so if you're bursting at the seams to share something from 2003, then don't hesitate to drop it here.

If you've yet to see The Last Waltz by The Band (here it is in full on YouTube), you're in for such a treat! A lotta folks know the Band for their song "The Weight" (aka Take a Load Off Annie) but they have sooooo many great tunes.
Steeped in Americana, with multiple singers who all harmonize together, The Band are one of my favorite groups of all time. They also were friends with lotsa great musicians, who they regularly collaborated with — many of these musicians joined in to play with them during their last concert, documented by Martin Scorsese in The Last Waltz.
For starters, I recommend checking out this performance of "Up on Cripple Creek"
Underrated song of Bon Jovi. I can't find it anywhere in their official spotify and youtube. The first time I hear this song is on cassette "Have a nice Day" album in 2006 as an extra track.
Rock on! I really haven't listened to much of Bon Jovi, but I remember when I lived in Scotland that the band got a whole lotta love over there. They do have some rockin' tunes — I'm liking tuning into the one ya shared here. 🙌

Indeed. However, it's wild to think that Hybrid Theory came out 20+ years ago in 2000!! They're definitely not the first band that comes to mind when I think classic rock, but they do technically fit my definition. 😀

Haha, I think this outta be classic enough — even got the black and white footage! Such a fun song. I love the organ in it! It kinda reminds me of "Sunshine of Your Love" — I think it's the little bass walk-down in the chorus.
Also, I love that the lead singer was singing "In the garden of evil", but it got interpreted as "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and the name stuck.
So many so I'll add a album.
The best song from the best band from the best concert: "Since I've been loving you" by Led Zeppelin live from Madison Square Garden, 1973. It does not get any better.

I had the DVD of How the West Was Won which included various live performances, including this one. It's easily one of my faves!
Today I have been jamming out to Uriah Heep's The Magician's Birthday while I work on some of piling up projects.
This is so dope! How have I never heard of this group?! They kinda remind me of a couple of groups: Quicksilver Messenger Service and Amon Düül.
I'm about 20 minutes into The Magician's Birthday now and there is the wildest sounding synthesizer chiming in with a shrill modulated sound that just sets everything off.
Anyway, I love this sorta psychedelic rock — it feels so epic!

Bowie's third album "The Man Who Sold The World" is an underappreciated album, or at least as unappreciated as anything by David Bowie can be.
Awww yeah! I love Bowie and so agree with you that this album is under-appreciated. It doesn't really have a single like many of the other Bowie albums do and so can kinda be overlooked, but all of the songs on the album rock. I'm tuning into the full thing right now. Great suggestion!

Oh man, absolutely a great song!!
Right now, I think my fave is "5 Years", but it regularly changes. I really love "Fame" and the whole Young Americans album. But I also love the song "Heroes" and really all the stuff from the albums known as the Berlin Trilogy (particularly Low).
I know they got "funk" in their name, but if you've not listened to Funkadelic's Maggot Brain, prepare to rock the funk out! Check out the title track and prepare for some face-melting guitar soloing. Somehow it's nearly 10 minutes and yet not long enough.

I love Funkadelic. This song is one of my favorites. They have some really groovy tunes.

This is an absolute gem. There is a legend that says George Clinton told Eddie Hazel (the guitarist you hear here) to play "as if he just heard that his mother had passed away", and he played pretty much just like that..
