NOTE: This is issue #080 of my newsletter, which went live on Monday, October 24th. If you find this information useful and interesting and you want to receive future issues as they are published, ahead of everyone else, I invite you to join the subscriber list at frontendnexus.com.

There is a new roundup of the changes and improvements that landed in your browser devtools. Firefox 106 brings improved privacy and the option to edit PDF files. Mac users can now protect their privacy online with DuckDuckGo for Mac beta or test the upcoming changes in WebKit with Safari Technology Preview 156. The highlights of the release section are Ember 4.8 and Node 19. And the resources of the week are a mix of utilities and icons.

What’s New In DevTools: Halloween Edition

Many CSS features have become widespread this year, as browser vendors worked on improving intercompatibility. The developer tools had to keep pace to help you make the best of these new technologies.

But not everyone checks the release notes for browser updates. This is where the latest roundup published by Smashing Magazine comes to the rescue. As the previous article on this topic was way back in January, there is a lot of catching up to do.

Browser news

DuckDuckGo

Apple users can now protect their privacy more, as DuckDuckGo for Mac beta is now open to the public. You can avoid tracking while watching YouTube with the new Duck Player, enjoy Email Protection, and a lot more.

Firefox

Firefox 106 rolled out on October 18, bringing the option to edit PDF files or to pin private windows directly to the taskbar. Under the hood, there are improved WebRTC capabilities and many security fixes.

WebKit

Safari Technology Preview 156 is now available for download. This update brings a long list of fixes, updates, and improvements, which you can check in the official release notes below.
