They are used to indicate text that has been inserted or removed from a document.
Both have two attributes: cite
to specify a URL explaining the reason for insertion/deletion and datetime
indicating the date the modification occurred (in YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssTZD
format).
As it is common for screen reader users to disable the advertisement of content that creates a lot of verbosity, it is advisable not to abuse the use of these elements and to use them only when not knowing that a content has been modified could affect their understanding.
