Hi readers π, welcoming you back to the "Appwrite OSS Fund" series, where we celebrate open-source maintainers. π
π€ What Is OSS Fund?
On the 4th of May, the Appwrite team launched the OSS Fund, an initiative to support open-source project maintainers. Being an open-source company, we wanted to give back to the community and help as many people as we can.
The OSS Fund is an initiative that is very close to our heart.

π€ What Is Presentator?
Presentator is a free and open source design presentation and collaboration platform.
Its main goal is to help designers to share their mockups and prototypes with others so that they can gather feedback more easily and orderly.
π€ Meet The Maintainer
Gani, who is a software developer from Sofia, Bulgaria is the maintainer of Presentator.
He is currently working remotely as team lead for a small Belgium company that develops park management and access controls solutions. The best part about his job is, a flexible reduced-hour working model (4 days work week), which allows him to spend more time on my hobby open source projects.
π‘ How Did The Idea Of Presentator Come Up?
The idea of Presentator was born back in ~2016/2017 when at work Gani and his team had a client with very strict NDAs that didn't allow them to share any digital assets, related to the projects that they were working at the time, with other third parties. In short, anything related to the project was allowed to exist only within their access restricted internal network. After hearing the complaints of the designers about this, Gani decided to create a self-hosted design presentation platform and thus Presentator was born.
π The Journey So Far
Presentator was born as an idea to help designers. There were also other issues with the existing prototyping and design sharing tools - they were clunky and slow, most of them have complex and cluttered interface which often caused confusions for non-technical users.
ποΈ Ending Notes
As Gani continues to work on his project, he wants to thank Appwrite and everyone who supported him.
In his words:
"Thanks to the Appwrite team and everyone else who decided to support Presentator and my open source journey. It really means a lot to me!"
