Hello dear dev.to community! I am Luciano. About 6 months ago I decided to learn some programming. I am currently in the #100daysofcode challenge and am in the 30 day. I made some progress in HTML and CSS so far and am currently learning Bootstrap 4 and JavaScript.
I can't say what my goal is yet. However, I am happy to learn a lot of new things every day.
Welcome! And good luck for the #100daysofcode 👍

Hello
From where are you learning? 🤔
Welcome buddy. Do feel free to give us a holler should you have any question and big-ups to you for joining the dev family.
Hello Luciano! :)
Learning new things is always a good idea! Wish you fast improvement and the possibility to use all your knowledge!
Hey friends,
I'm Ebenezer Ndukwe, a passionate Frontend Developer who loves to convert User Interface designs into reusable codes. I so much love CSS, my friends call me Lord of CSS. I have over 3 years coding Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue.js.
Here is my Portfolio Website ebenezy.dev
Hoping to write some articles with my few years of coding to share my thoughts and ideas.
Man, your website looks amazing! I love that style. When you're designing something, do you start with something that looks great and then work out the practical stuff, or do you make something functional and then make it look cool?
Thank you, Henry,
When designing something, I start with something that looks great and then work out the practical stuff.
The reason is, when your website is not looking great, nobody will bother to check the functionalities.
The good looks come first.
Hi Ebenezer, your website looks sooo gooood!! welcome to DEV🎉
Thank you Saurabh.
Welcome to the community Ebenezer. What a great website you have! 🙌
Thank you Vaibhav.
Hello! Welcome to the dev.to community! Your site look amazing! 🎉🙌
Thank you Luciano. I am glad to be here.
Your site is really clean, I love it.
Thank you Okiki.
I love your site!
Have to say, despite coding and designing my own product prototypes, I've never been the type to advertise my efforts well. Hoping to gain some inspiration around these parts.
Thank you Dean. Am glad that my profile could inspire you.
Hey Ebenezer,
You have such a simple and beautiful portfolio website. I am really amazed.
Good work!
Great Portfolio on your website. Congrats.
Thank you very much David.
Hope you've had a great experience so far! your website does look amazing. It would be a better read if your about section stays in 3rd person / 1st person, my 0.02$.
Hi Aarif, thanks for the observation, I will correct that.
Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I'm JD. I used to do mostly backend stuff, but I've started migrating toward frontend.
I'm a huge fan of Javascript and it's ability to go anywhere, although I mostly write in Typescript these days.
I think privacy is important and I think more support is needed for browsers without Javascript or cookies enabled. I'm currently utilising CSS to make it do things it wasn't meant for, but makes a great alternative to JS.
Also, I have a soft spot for real time communications, such as IRC and it's modern day equivalents.
Welcome JD! The JS community is the most vibrant one around here, hope you enjoy your time reading and maybe even sharing some of those CSS tricks with the rest of us
Awwww wish you all the best with the new journey
hey guy! welcome!
Hello!
Hey JD! I also went from backend to frontend. Glad to hear of more Typescript fans!
Hello Dev.to community! my name is Mary,
Am pursuing a degree in computer Applications, in my final year, I hv learned many programming languages like c,c++,data structure, html & css with js, java and php, I hv a little knowledge of all these programming languages but am finding it difficult to choose which one is good for me. My goal is to become a software engineer. I need some advice on how to choose the best programming language.
Welcome, Mary! I suppose you can choose a programming language by asking yourself "What I'll be building or working on for the next couple of years?" Take that tech stack and learn that programming language, see if you're comfortable and are able to make projects or code on your own. That might be your next favourite programming language! Else, find an alternative.
I hope that helped. 😀
Thanks so much
Hey Mary, thanks for following me!
The best advice I can give is Web Dev. I am biased and here is why.
The web is So visible. non-tech savvy people can appreciate your work and its easy to get into and hard to master.
the stacks to build web are moving into other areas like VR and AR as well as Mobile dev with React Native, Ionic, webGL, ect...
No matter what you get into, you're not going to love or hate the languages, in my opinion, you are going to love or hate your commitment level to a skill. I recommend that you specialize in one thing and then diversify.
Thanks Tallan
Welcome on board, Mary.
I think you should focus on these firstly HTML & CSS and JavaScript, once you master these, then proceed to learn JavaScript Frameworks and you can fly from there because the trend is shifting towards that direction.
In the process, find your strength (Frontend or Backend or FullStack Developer)
This is what I also did and am excelling in these areas.
Thanks so much Ebenezer
Hi all! I'm Chen, jack-of-all-trades engineer from Tel Aviv, Israel.
Currently heading engineering at a new startup.
Proud to join this excellent community and excited to learn as much as I can,
and to help others too!
Hi Chen. What kind of startup? Just out of curiosity. 🙃 I'm new here too!
Woah! What a friendly community.
Our startup: our team has been founding, growing, exiting and investing in companies for 20 years.
The problem we keep seeing: people are (generally) not effective communicators.
As companies grow, the issue becomes even more painful and
operations start to break down. leading to negative consequences for companies that CAN be prevented.
We're fixing it. Stay tuned :-)
Hi Chen
Me you both :)
Very excited to join the community and can't wait to learn from all the members.
Hi Chen, I'm Codin. May you find fortune in your future prospects.
Hi Everyone,
I am Ram, from the begging of my career started working in mobile development using Flutter. Slowly moving towards the web and started using Vue.js. Now heading towards React as it is very popular and personally started liking it.
Hello there! I'm using Flutter myself. What made you abandon it?
Hi Ram and welcome to DEV. You'll definitely get help and tips from others in React here!
Thank you
Hello.
I'm a life long code tinkerer. It has recently come to my attention that I'm better at programming than I thought. Now I just wanna get better. So the internet brought me here.
I use SAS at work, but I rather enjoy Python. I'm better at R though. I started my code tinkering with C and HTML. I think Julia is really cool but haven't had much time to tinker yet. I should probably learn Java? Or JavaScript?
Idk, I'm rambling. Looking forward to reading.
❤️, Lauren
Welcome Lauren, there are lots of Data Devs here who write about R and Python. Check out the #python tag for more folks to follow and let us know how you go :D
Hi Lauren, nice to meet you!

I'm glad to be a part of the community. I accidentally crash landed on the community's profile on twitter and saw the need to check it only to find myself in this awesome platform. This clearly a discovery of the year for me in 2020 and I'm super chuffed to be a the newest member.
Hello, I am Coly Gabriel Eric and am from Senegal. I started my journey in programming it's about 3 months and I presently have some knowledge about HTML and CSS. Since I am a self code learner, sometimes I fail to grasp some stuff. Hope this will be the right place to find answers to anything I donnut understand. Thanks!

Hey All,
I’m Beatrice, Bea for short! I’ve been teaching myself HTML, CSS and JavaScript through online courses and evening classes.
At the beginning of the year, I was accepted on to a bootcamp which started at the beginning of Feb.
3 weeks in and I’ve been introduced to C#, .NET, Razor, APIs, MVC. Also we’ve learnt HMTL, CSS, JavaScript, UX/UI, Web accessibility and Web responsiveness.
I love CSS and how powerful it is - I can’t wait to learn more. Also I enjoy putting the user first when I’m coding.
So far, I’ve been loving my tech journey through the highs and lows.
My goal is to get my first role in tech preferably front end development but as I’m also learning back end dev too, I’m keeping myself open to new possibilities.
Hello! I'm Becca. I began developing professionally in 2015, but somehow never made a dev.to account until now! I currently work as a web developer specializing on our React tasks, but outside of work I enjoy picking up various hobby projects with friends.
Hi Becca, I'm Katie, one of the basic moderators.
It's great to see more woman who code here on DEV.

Never regretted my decision to work as a web developer since. 😍😍 Loves to compose interesting dev topics here and in Medium.
Welcome to Dev!
Hi there dev.to community!
My name is Malcolm and I've been a developer for the last 4-5 years. I started off as a backend developer mostly focused on Java. For the recent 2 years, I shifted wholly to JavaScript and have worked both in the backend and frontend :)
I really like discovering new aspects of development (spend too much time on articles tbh ;)
I currently teach at a coding bootcamp in the Netherlands. When I'm not doing that, I'm some dance studio training my hip hop dance skills.
Looking forward to connecting with you all in some way.
Hello Technology Experts!
This is Vishal and one interesting article on DevOps from Dev.to made me join this community. I'm looking forward to gain knowledge from all veterans around and grow myself in the industry. I've overall close to 13 years of experience ( as of 2020 ) and mostly worked for Top investment banks for various asset classes as an environment Management guy! I'm now more closely aligned with DevOps world and starting getting helm of it! I'm sure I'll be definitely be more proficient in the DevOps with help from this community ;)
Assalam-0-Alaikum/Hi/Hello to every one:
I'm Abdul Hamid and I am Full Stack Developer. I have 2 year experience in Web Development or Web Technology. I mostly work on frontend and backend both.
Hi coders !
I'm Alex. I have been working in cybersecurity for almost 5 years. I like to code in Python, I also code in PHP (only for my own website). I'm quite curious and I hope I will learn new things from you as much as you will from me !
Soon, I'll present you, in other posts, two tools I have been designing and I'd like to share with the community : one is an USB devices cleaning station for Linux, the other is a tool to scan Windows computers. Suspense !
See you !
Hello, Dev. I am Okiki. About two years ago I decided, I was going to be a freelance web developer who mostly focuses on small portfolio and business sites. I have partially achieved my goal, but I am still unsure about asset management, hosting and backend tasks for larger projects. I decided to join to gain some insight from professionals in the industry. Plus it was cool to see the Github repo for this site and to then join, it's kinda spectacular.
I primarily program in JS but I want to learn TS, Dart, etc... I am overall generally curious, so, I hope to glean from the community.
I am currently working on revamping my site (okikio.dev), I am moving it from Heroku to Netlify; I just finished my brother's portfolio site (josephojo.com).
Hello good people of dev.to !
My name is Mateo. I survive this harsh world by selling pizzas during the day and learning dev stuff by night. I can handle HTML, CSS, some javascript and some ruby. I am a newbie with no proper goal at the moment but I hope this changes in the next months.

Hi dev.to community. It's great to be here. I've been creating websites for quite a few years but only recently started diving deeper into JavaScript which I absolutely love. I'm also enjoying building some basic stuff with vue.js (Building a WordPress plugin cost calculator at the moment). I hope to dabble in react soon too.

Hi there! I am Iris and I am and IT student. In school we dont learn a lot about devolopment (which is a shame and kinda weird because its IT..) so I am taking matters in my own hands and join this community so I can learn :) I am familiar with HTML/CSS, Android, Windows and a little bit with Linux. I hope to learn a lot and maybe so much that I will ace my exams haha!
Hey comrade developers how's going? Do you guys find that articles from this site keep on coming up more and more from Google search on technical terms? This is much better than Medium keeps on asking you to pay to read, Isn't it?!
Let's work together here by posting more to embrace the fact that knowledge is not a zero-sum game.
Hiii 👋,
I'm Lucas I'm writing code in JavaScript (Node, React) and i reallyy love Open source this is why I'm spending most of my time on Github.

Hey there guys!
I'm Manuel. I'm actually working as backend engineer (python/django) for a fintech company. I'm here to look in different direction than python to acquire new skills. I'm very, very interested in devops lately.
I found this community a post at reddit. It looks like a very instructive forum where I will certainly learn a lot of things.
I also hope to make new friends with the same way of thinking.
I have been an independent designer since 2008 and have been creating websites for small businesses and organisations for years.
Hello friends from the community 👋, I learned the community when I checked the information.

Hi there, everyone!
I'm Aureliano and I thought that I wouldn't have anything interesting to say... But I've finally built up some courage and I'm ready to write something worth reading about my journey into programming.
My journey began in high school with C++, but since I've started working 8 years ago I've focused mainly on front end technologies (and I'm deeply in love with JS).
Wish me luck!
Hello citizens of dev.to!
I am Koppany. I'm learning C# while working as a guard. I'm also battling mental problems unfortunately.
Right now I'm really into 'repairing' (speeding back up) my phone by saving/bookmarking/exporting all android chrome tabs then rooting my phone.
Hello! I am attempting to alleviate the mindless scroll of facebook from my life and after getting a subscription to medium, started wondering if there were any alternatives to it or developer communities that I didn't know about. Well.... clearly there are!
I have been programming for almost 2 years unless you count my dabbling in HTML in my teens and basic programming courses in high school (QBasic and Visual Basic, yeah I'm getting old). I started with Python on CodeCademy and then moved on to learn python the hard way and Automate the Boring Stuff. All excellent resources that I recommend for beginners. I decided that programming was for me and enrolled in Coding Dojo's online bootcamp. I had a good experience, although there were some things that I wished were different. I studied what seemed like a ton of subjects from HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery, SQL, Python, Django, Flask, C#, .NET Core console and web apps... there are some other peripheral things we learned, and it was all in 20 weeks. I've since learned that we only scratched the surface, although I wish I had gotten more depth in the category of my choosing.
I worked hard on a portfolio, but ultimately got a position developing for the platform I worked on as a Service Desk Technician, ServiceNow. There isn't as much coding as I would like, but I'm building great soft skills as a developer and coding on my own time. I work from home and while I don't want to do it forever, I mostly love my job.
Thanks if you read this far, I can be long-winded. I love to code and i'm looking forward to being in this community as I level up!
Hello there! I was searching for CSS attributes and found dev.to. I am from the design world. Apart from design topics, I am interested in C# (Mobile app, .Net, Unity). But now trying to understand frontend stuff and PHP for academic purpose.
hello am a highschool graduate and i studied Math-Physics am also from the small coutry called rwanda so anyway i was never really interested in code until a TED talk which a speaker said "the youth today know how to use technologies like instagram and facebook but do not want to know how it works underneath so i made it my mission to collect that"
and i hope here i can both contribute and learn the necessary skill to do so
Hello.
I'm a CS degree holder and it has recently hit me that I'm enjoying programming more than I did when I was studying it. And now I just want to be better and make a career out of it. So I scattered around the internet and found this awesome website/community.
Currently working as Junior Front End engineer, and React JS is my stack. Looking forward to be part of this community.
Cheers,
Adam.
Lessons from a Career of Software Development….
During a career spanning more years than I’d like to admit to, I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from a number of great mentors and the privilege to work among some truly awesome teams. Positive empowering influences, both personal and professional, I continue to be humbled by the level of support I’ve been lucky to have been the beneficiary of. My goal is to be an active contributor to this, and many other communities, sharing thoughts and suggestions about building high-performing teams.
Kevin

Hi dev.to! I found a couple posts that really piqued my interest and decided to join! Love the focused discussion and feedback I've seen so far.
Looks like it might be a great place to discuss various projects I'm working on without committing to full blog posts on my own sites, and get ideas from others.
Mainly interested in embedded device programming and the security thereof, while maintaining ease of use and integration -- I'm working to develop my own IoT products, with a focus on aesthetic product design and robust integration into existing systems.
Hello dev community
I'm Ashoka...ahhmm Not that king just the ordinary one. I'm a Front-end developer generally work with Angular and have little experience with node.js as well. Trying little hard to get myself prep for backend part. I really love coding and traveling and all mighty Tea ❤️.

Have a good day all.
Hi there!
I'm Aureliano, for years I've been a FrontEnd-ish developer while working in the industry as an Application Specialist for a small software house.
I've started to code 16 years ago with C++ in High School, but I feel like I didn't make much of a progress in these years because of my job.
As a 2020 resolution, I want to learn a new programming language, and I feel that Dev.to would be the perfect project log for me.
I hope to write something worth reading soon.
Wish me luck!
Hey, it's Greg.
I'm a Frenchman who's been passionate about technology and development since I was a kid. Today, I'm a freelance mobile developer but I'm developing other projects on the side.
I like to develop everything but only once, "reuse the code" is my motto, so I love to develop libraries.
I also like beer ;)
I am a Web Front End developer. Just starting to see if there is any new opportunity doing ReactJS work. I am quite good in JavaScript ES6, and had experience in CanJS, React, Vue, Angular, and Svelte.
Hej
I'm new here. So hello. Hi there. What's up? I like computers. I try to learn as much as I can but the human condition prevents me from doing so effectively pretty much constantly it seems. Anyway there's nothing better to do at the moment so that's what I spend my time doing.
Hejdå!
Hello Dev.to!
My name is Gonzalo, I'm an Android developer located in Gdansk, Poland (soon to move).
I'm currently working remotely for an awesome company.
I'm a big fan of embedded systems but don't have professional experience, just a few academic and personal projects.
Always looking for good ideas to develop for Android or embedded.
Hey community!
My name is Themba, from South Africa. I'm currently a software developer. I would like to showcase all that I'm learning in my journey to devops that I'm embarking on from a developer point of view.
I hope to blog about it (newbie to blogging as well :)) and maybe to help others who are thinking of going to devops.
Hi! My name is Paul, I'm the starting in the world of microservices, looks like it's a trend nowadays. I'm already learning Spring Boot with Java (also Maven), any learning topic suggestion is always welcome.
Hope to make a big progress this year.
I have been an applications programmer / analyst for over forty years, working for various corporations. I have been busy learning and practicing Haskell. Recently, I have been exploring the P(n,k) permutations algorithm. For example, take a look at:
alistairisrael.wordpress.com/2009/...
I was hoping to develop my own algorithm, but after some work, I think Alistair Israel's is probably the best approach. Your comments are welcome.
Sincerely,
Richard E. Adams

Hello all,
I am Frederic, A software engineer from Montpellier, south of France. I started developing with Flash and Actionscript3 12 years ago.
When Steve Job murdered it, I learnt Javascript and PHP. I worked for eLearning companies in the medical domain, web studio for the luxury hotels, and for Rakuten in the publishing domain.
I'm now Fullstack Javascript/Typescript, interested in Machine Learning, Devops, and eLearning.
I try never to pit technologies against each other (I like React AND Angular And Vue)
I try to develop my own product these days. It may be out this year, and I will start talking about it in a few months.
Hi, I'm Mariusz (Maurice - not the same name - if the first option seems unpronounceable is also fine).
I came here to learn, and if I learn to share.
I like video games, animations, s-f, fantasy.
I also like procrastination and drowning in backlogs of shame. I'm kidding, I don't like it, it just happens.
Happy to be here ;-)

Hello, dev.to community! I am Yves. I am a Junior Software Engineer. About two years ago, I started to teach myself language computers speak, so I can talk to computers. I was a college student, learning business management, but the crazy stuff I can do with computers picked my interest. I am here to learn from anyone who is willing to share the knowledge with me and help anyone who wants to learn from me.
Currently, I am a software engineer working for a company based in Kigali, Rwanda. Happy to learn and meet new people.

Hi there!
I am an Astrophysics student currently working on my dissertation “Planet hunting with Python”, the aim is learning to write simplified algorithms in Python to analyse data from the NASA Kepler spacecraft mission.
First time ever coding, and I LOVE it and I AM SO BAD at it.
My new motto: #LearnToCodeOrDieTrying
Well I certainly hope you don't die. But I'll definitely be waiting for your posts on planet hunting :)
SALUT!
I'm Jesse, I'm from a small town in rural Michigan originally but consider myself "from the internet". Still idling in the same IRC channels I've been in for over 20 years. My work has been all over the map, from embedded firmware development on custom PCB's to run of the mill full-stack development across a multitude of languages.
Could eat tacos every day. Find programming in Ruby to result in the most smiles per minute of any language I've ever worked in.
Hi! I'm a software engineer focused primarily in frontend technologies :) Looking to join dev.to to learn about a bunch of cool new things in the community! I'm hoping the exposure to the various members, articles, and blog posts here will help guide me to whatever my next goals may be

Hello All!
I'm Karim from Palestine, very happy to be part of this community, I used to work as a database developer for 4 years, then, moved to be a web developer working with PHP.
My future goal is to work with a large team at companies like Booking, so I decided to learn a new language which is Golang, I will share my learning and experience with you.
Thanks :)
I am just a newbie. Here today because I read an article about gamification, and it was really interesting.
For now I'm into the Freecodecamp, spent already hundreds of hours over there and starting to dive in Javascript.
I'm also participating to a little challenge called 100daysofcode.
And about me, I do live in France but I like to travel so I do like to spend time as often as I can in the so called neighborhood : Poland mainly, but also Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Great-Britain, Italy, Spain... Europe is great.
My aim is also to work remotely in the future. I won't change my mind about this.
Hey all,
I'm a product manager so don't write on our product but I do write some internal tools (automation, sales enablement etc.)
I got hooked at university (needed to control a benchtop instrument) during a Chemistry project and have been coding ever since.
I became (for better and for worse) known as the Excel VBA guy at work so I help a lot of people with a lot of internal tools.
When I can pick the tech stack, I am using Python or JavaScript (or both) and sometimes C#.
Here to learn from others and to give back in some of the areas I am stronger in.
Love playing with SVGs and with React and sometimes both :)

Hello to all DEV'onauts...
I writing this introductory comment of my self again, as I apparently deleted the post I wrote this morning.
Once upon a time, black gold powered the world, now there is code!!!
My name is Gabriel, and some time ago (thirty plus years), I used to write programs the structured way, in what many people consider to be ancient languages (Fortran/Cobol). Since then, I haven't written any thing juicy, other than some software tools in C#, Java, some C and C++, but no bigger than 150 lines of code. I'm not an expert by any means on any of the aforementioned languages, I just picked at them enough to give the users what they needed.
Now that I have a bit more time on my hands, I'm getting back into real programming, well I hope so, I'm doing my best. I don't believe in the "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". So I started learning Python, Elixir, Elm, I mean, like I just started this month. Also learning some other IT related stuff that I like, not to mentioned that I have to keep on ploking at C# and Java, for the company I work for.
I'm sure I'l learn a lot from you guys, if you are willing to share and have patience with this old/newb programmer. And I hope I have some thing of value I could share with you, so I don't feel like a leech.
Sincerely...
code@50

Hi folks! I stumbled on dev.to while looking for tips on some SQL stuff; looks like a cool place, so I thought I'd sign up.
I've still pretty new to development (~1 year of playing around which got me a BI job a couple of months ago), so at this point I'm just trying to be a knowledge sponge to learn as much as possible and figure out what I like doing. At the moment I'm working mostly with DAX (reasonably confident) and SQL (bit out of my depth).
Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Hi DEV community, I'm Dmitrii.

Hello everyone, I am a Systems Administrator (SysAdmin) from North America. I have worked as a SysAdmin for 5.5 years while working on a number of side/personal projects relating to electronics and developing. My interest in developing started 13 years ago when I started making websites for myself and my friends and a couple of groups I was a part of. That later grew when I started college where I studied Digital Media Arts and Computer Programming, where I learned C++ and Java programming as well as the ins-and-outs of Linux/UNIX systems. Over the years I have focused most of my attention to C# and JavaScript with which I have made software for my employers, as well as personal projects like Discord bots, home automation, websites, etc. I look forward to communicating with and learning from the lovely folks in this community.
Hello there :)

Hello people, just swooping by to see what kind of community and blog platform this is and how it turns out.
I felt that I needed a blog-outlet somewhere that I didnt have to build from scratch (yet again) even though it makes a good topic when streaming development it's not the most fun thing to create. Why reinvent the wheel? Hope to be able to contribute somehow.
I was searching for CSS properties and found dev.to. I am from the design world. A couple of years ago I found ActionScript as a handy tool. Later I liked and was interested in C# (Mobile app, .Net, Unity), but now trying to understand frontend stuff and PHP for academic purpose.

I'm currently picking up Angular again, after using now AngularJS back in 2013/14. I has been a great evolution for this framework! What do you think?
I been also trying to revive the old Anemone gem in my fork "Medusa" (github.com/brutuscat/medusa) and I been looking for good use cases for this gem to build either open source tools or some tiny project of mine. Ideas?
Feedback is really appreciated. I work remotely and my contact with adults that actually write software is limited by distance and other 2 smaller human beings that request my time constantly.
Thank you!
I just woke up one morning to an article by one Prosper about "Who is Speaking on your behalf" and I couldnt help but read through to the very last word.

I cannot stress how excited I get when I listen to suggestions on best ways to grow in the industry and look forward to these kinds of advice.

Hi everyone! I'm Linda a Front end developer. I'm very happy to be part of this community now (have been very shy about joining for a long time 😅). I have always felt that code could change people's perceptions and make them truly believe in endless possibilities - it really changed MY perceptions. So I am trying to join the effort to prove it by living it and showing it.
I also have a growing interest in Open source and UX and will work in those areas more in future but for now it'll be slowly helping people out as much as I can and making things easier for them while learning along the way.
Hi all, I'm Shlomo web developer from Israel. Joined the community because I love reading articles from this site.
