This week was going to be my productive week. It started strong, with some heavy planning and meetings. But then.. Russia attacked. I have not been...

What is happening to you, your family and your homeland is unbelievably traumatic and seems very much like the individuals are disposable pawns in a game played by those so far detached from lives on the ground that they appear barely human.
Taking weapons against trained soldiers seems incredibly courageous, but also incredibly dangerous, every young man I've seen on TV talking of it and returning home fills me with dread and admiration.
Of course during these times you will be completely distracted and feel stress due to the lack of agency you have to even understand the situation affecting those you care about. Don't feel an ounce of guilt for those feelings, don't feel the need to doubt what you feel, right now the world is facing an existential crisis, but for Ukraine its a very practical reality.
I can’t imagine what you are going through. I’m so sorry.
There are something like 36000 Ukrainians that live here in Saskatchewan, Canada. I work with a guy from the Ukrainian. He wasn’t at work. I hope his family is ok.
You’re such great and kind people.
Unfortunately where I live we know war all too well. It's terrible when it arrives at your doorstep. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and get through this terrible attack.
Peace to you, my friend.
Praying that this will be over very soon. 🙏Please take care.
Kudos to you on your commitment to your professional duties during wartime. The war has disrupted my work since February 24th and I live and work exclusively in the US. I think this war is worth everyone's attention because, in the same way that there was a small chance that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia would ramp up into a full blown invasion of Ukraine, there is small chance that the invasion will escalate and initiate events that lead to world war and that involves everyone.
If it's any consolation, the increased levels of radiation detected at the Chernobyl site are not from anything being accidentally hit. According to the article you linked:
Thank you very much for sharing. I greatly admire your courage.
All of us at DEV are grateful to you for sharing your thoughts and story with us, @sirinoks. This situation is devastating enough to be following from the United States so I can't imagine how you must be feeling with roots in Ukraine. Your family, friends, and homeland are in my thoughts.
May I ask how the situation is now for you? Everything ok?
My family has declined to leave and are in a somewhat safe area. They do get shelled, but not attacked by troops directly. My mother left to europe and is trying to find a new life there. Never heard on my father, no clue if he's alive, in ukraine, or fighting. Seems that the apartment I used to live in hasn't been destroyed, at least from what I've been seeing on the news. Nobody has went there yet to check. Not sure when anyone will be able to.
I hope everything will be better as soon as possible.
Fingers crossed for your family and you. I really hope Putin will listen to reason soon or I fear this conflict could escalate even more.
My thoughts are with you.
Best wishes for you, all your family members, and your country also,
It's a very difficult and stressful moment, I hope everyone will be safe.
