Recently Micro Focus surprisingly announced its new offering called LoadRunner Developer. If you already aware of the terms TruWeb or DevWeb, then you are good. If not, you can read this blog post further. Even if you know about TruWeb/DevWeb, I prefer you to read further.
Background
Micro Focus announced its inception version of new cross-platform supported protocol called TruWeb a year ago. It was a tech preview version where you get 150 virtual users for free with no strings attached.
I have already published an Udemy Course and received positive feedback since then.
Fast forward to Micro Focus LoadRunner Family in 2020 where Micro Focus started following CalVer for their products and changed the names, LoadRunner Professional, LoadRunner Enterprise, and LoadRunner Cloud.
The latest version of LoadRunner is LoadRunner Professional 2020 Service Pack 1.
Couple weeks ago, Micro Focus formally announced LoadRunner Developer as a new offering focusing shift-left strategy.

What is LoadRunner Developer?
Official definition is
LoadRunner Developer was designed with a developer mindset, to provide you with maximum flexibility. It can be used on any platform (Windows, Linux, macOS) and across any IDE, enabling you to script and execute load tests as part of your continuous testing process.
LoadRunner Developer is focused on the communication at the HTTP transport level and over WebSocket, and is ideal to test against the latest web technologies (HTTP, HTTPs, HTTP/2,WebSockets) using its innovative and simple JavaScript SDK.
LoadRunner Developer leverages DevWeb engine and supports cross platform.
DevWeb protocol is now fully supported and gelled with LoadRunner since 2020 version.
By default, you can use up to 50 virtual users for free forever with no license attached to your system in LoadRunner Developer. You can scale your load by extending your LoadRunner Developer with LoadRunner Professional/Enterprise.
If you are planning to execute more than 50 virtual users in LoadRunner Developer, it consumes the license from your web bundle (typically).
LoadRunner Developer is more developer friendly and integrates commonly used IDEs such as IntelliJ, Visual Studio, Atom, VS Code etc.
It is cross platform, supports Windows, macOS, and Linux.
