In today's world, the digital presence is essential as you can connect to anyone in the world by digital means. Website is a major factor for digital presence out there. Hence the popularity of free web hosting has been exploded in recent years.

With all the exposes required to run a successful website, it's tempting to try and cut some costs, and what's better than free web hosting right?

Let's quickly check out five free places to host your website.

Github Pages

This is one of the popular ones. And we all know Github, don't we?
Here you can create the site with markdown directly from your repository and also from the classic HTML, Javascript websites.

One thing you need to know is that you won't get MySQL databases, etc. This can only be used for static pages. You can still create and host your blog with this tough using Jekyll.

  • A MySQL database

It seems like one of the better free hosts available. And here are all other services it provides

Google Sites are free to build, host, and maintain with a Google account and there are no web hosting fees either. However, if you are using Google Sites along with Google Apps then the cost is rolled into the user license fee.

Some of the advantages are

  • Easy integration with Google Drive, Google Maps and more
  • Drag and drop features
  • Google Sites allows you to add files from your Google Drive to your page directly.
  • It's ideal for a fresher who is building a website for the first time.
  • Support for embedding HTML and JavaScript

But unfortunately, you cannot host a website that is coded i.e. built completely with HTML and javascript, etc.

It's a great place to host and 100% Free โ€“ But your website will be offline for 1 hour per day. It has some great features tough

  • Docker compose hosting
  • Ephemeral-ness
  • Database limits (Heroku PostGres allows only 10K rows)

Ohh never seen this before. Hosted a temporary website last year on this for a month. Worked fine for a month so i thought i would share this with you guys. Anyway thanks for the information. After looking at this i guess we gotta be careful now.

I mean it seems like it works fine mostly, and I'm sure it's great for development projects. But yeah whenever a company makes huge promises of being free you always gotta be cautious haha.
