Connotation of words matter master in this case has nothing to do with a person owning slaves. It has to do with the fact that the master branch is... the master. The branch that is the original copy that can be iterated on.
Saying that the master branch is the main one, or the original one is actually a lot more explicit to describe the purpose of that branch.
Since you don't care about the harm and the message it can do, I guess properly naming the concept we are using might be better... It's easier to understand, and easier to teach.
You sound like a person who won't wear a mask during a pandemic... You are most likely lazy and don't care about anyone else. ;) Call it master if you want but don't act like you are standing up to technical oppression!! What's the big deal about calling it something else for new repos? I can see not renaming your whole code base...
