- Saturday : During the day, I did my laundry and went through the packages for that I ordered to put the solar panels on the roof of my van. Figured I'd go through them real quick and put the parts together before the radio show. Nope, apparently, the pieces I ordered to attach the frame together don't fit and look a lot smaller than I pictured them. I really shouldn't order hardware from a website. haha My folks were going to the hardware store to get things for the house, so I told them what I needed, gave them a piece of the frame and some money. Then it was time to the radio show. Went pretty good. Had a great time as usual. The recording of this week's show is at https://kNOwBETTERHIPHOP.com
Sunday : Took the parts my folks got from the hardware store and with the help of my father I was able to install the solar panels to the roof. Ran into a couple of hiccups along the way, like the roof the is slightly angled so the cross pieces I ordered where slightly too long because of the way it bowed out. So liberal use of mallets where used to get things to fit. haha Took a little longer than I had imagined, but got it installed! Plugged it in to the battery and it was charging from the panels Awesome! I was so tired after that, I went to add some mute buttons for the host and guest in the host dashboard of my side project. Tested it out and it worked! Went to sleep feeling pretty good. haha Oh and I watched "The Talking Dead" to prepare for new episodes of "The Walking Dead" next week.
Professional : I think I was still tired from the work installing the solar panels. The heat will zap your energy. Had a couple of meetings and then spent time going over some courses for a blog post and demo I'm writing. Pretty chill day.
Personal : I scheduled an appointment to service my van. I called my previous internet provider because there is a charge on my bill even though I cancelled the service a week before the next billing cycle. Called them and apparently it's for a 10 year old modem. My folks have it so I just need to drop it off at a store to get my credit.
So, I unplugged the connection from the house to battery to see if I can do my normal daily routine with just the solar panels charging it. It's been a pretty cloudy and rainy day, but the battery was at 100% all day. Right now, it's at 96%. We'll see how it goes overnight. Now that I have the panels installed, I'll be heading back out and give them a real test. So far, I think it will work out. Plus I can charge the battery as I drive also. Going to do some more coding on my side project. I want to add the ask a question and chat section. Once I get that working, there's a couple of aesthetic things I want to find, then I'll get it deployed and start checking to see if any local meetup groups want to give it a shot.
