Acra allows configuring data masking to certain database fields. Data fields stay encrypted in the database, but look masked/anonymized when reading through Acra.
💡 Data masking is useful whether anonymizing datasets for reporting or exchanging the data with untrusted third parties. Acra supports full or partial data masking, allowing customization of mask format.
So, with data masking, data stays encrypted, but could be easily shared with untrusted parties without revealing it.
