Matching people from the same country

Hi guys. I'm currently working on a project idea targeting developers from my country, Kenya. I'll probably post it on #showdev when I'm done. Problem is, I won't be able to reach my target audience -- developers from my country.

If I were on twitter, I'd probably post it with #kenya #kot (kenyansontwitter) tags and It'd reach a few Kenyan developers and people who like the idea, then the word would spread.

So, just a thought, would it be possible to achieve the same result on dev.to? It would be nice if people could get follow suggestions of people from their own country so that they could connect and maybe share ideas on how to solve problems in their own locale, organise physical meetups, etc. Because people have their location info on their profiles, it would also be great if they would get posts tagged with #theircountry show up on their feed.

I don't know how viable this idea is. Would it cause any problems with the way dev.to currently works? Any ideas on how this could be achieved? I really wouldn't want to get back on twitter just for this.

Hi Kinyanjui;

First of all

I am a Kenyan developer and you are the first or second Kenyan I've seen here.

On the idea

I think adding the location tag to dev.to would be a neat addition. Since dev.to went opensource, you can try contributing to the git repo and making a pull request if no one attends to it. @ben may consider this as an addition in future?
