FiftyOne 0.25 is here!
Now with Python Panels, Custom Dashboards, SAM 2, and Elasticsearch Integration, this new release is packed with game-changing features that take your visual AI development to the next level.
Here's a sneak peek at what's new:
- ๐ Python Panels: Build custom App panels with a simple Python interface. Includes built-in components for information display, tutorials, interactive graphs, triggering operations, and more.
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Custom Dashboards: Create no-code dashboards to visualize dataset statistics and model performance.
- โ SAM 2 Integration: Leverage Segment Anything 2 directly within FiftyOne for automatic object segmentation in images and videos.
- ๐ Elasticsearch Integration: Connect to your Elasticsearch cluster for scalable text and image searches across your datasets.
- ๐ Image Representativeness Analysis: Easily identify the most common and uncommon image types in your datasets.
PLUS some awesome contributions from the community ๐งก:
- Rustem Galiullin contributed adding track IDs if present for Ultralytics models
- dimidagd contributed the ability to add ragged batches to be configured for custom Torch models

SAM2 now available in the FiftyOne Model Zoo
Segment Anything 2ย (SAM 2) which was released on July 29th, 2024 represents a major leap forward in segmentation technology, offering cutting-edge performance in both images and videos. Building on the foundation of the originalย Segment Anything, which Meta released in April 2023, SAM 2 not only enhances image segmentation but also introduces advanced video capabilities. With SAM 2, users can achieve precise segmentation and tracking in video sequences using simple promptsโlike bounding boxes or pointsโfrom a single frame. This enhanced functionality opens up exciting new possibilities for a wide array of video applications.
Check the blog post by Prerna Dhareshwar to see how to load and apply SAM 2 models on both images as well as videos in FiftyOne.

๐ง The Challenge
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to curate a subset of our provided dataset that achieves two seemingly contradictory goals:
Reduce the overall size of the dataset
Maintain or improve the performance of a YOLOv8m object detection model
๐งฐ Dataset and Resources
- A dataset of 65,986 images
- 43 object classes across categories like clothing, people, transportation, and more
- FiftyOne, an open-source tool for dataset curation and analysis.
- YOLOv8m model from the Ultralytics Model Zoo
๐ Prizes
- First Place: $1,000
- Second Place: Top Tier Swag Package
