Week 01 - About Me

Who Am I

Hello, my name is Tristan Taylor. I am a 4th year(7th semester) student at taking the Bachelor of Software Development program at Seneca College.

What drew me to this course was the heavy usage of Github(pulling, forking, pushing) as I know in the software development field being proficient with GitHub and its many features is almost mandatory at this point. Open Source as well has drawn me to this course because I feel that it provides and promotes students to really work on something creative and interesting that is something we aren't so used to since most assignments are given to us.

I live in Toronto, however I do feel this course being online and asynchronous.

In this course, I'm hoping to inspect and work on a community driven open source project (hopefully something web dev) and contribute some really meaningful and perhaps build my own modified version.

GitHub Trending Repo

Loot is a collection of 8,000 unique bags of adventurer gear. At release, anyone could claim loot bag contains 8 items: a piece for an adventurer, chest, foot, hand, head, neck, ring, waist and weapon.

This repo in particularly interested me because of a few things:
1) No company or team affiliation making it its impossible to gatekeep any sorts of creative decisions. It is a truly grassroots community driven initiative.
2) This sort-of gambling like game seems very fun to not only participate in as a casual fan but also adding and valuing my own loot bag for others to buy and discover.

In whole, this project looks extremely fun.
