Hi I'm Waylon
I am currently a Masters's candidate studying computer science at Colorado State University. After I completed my bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, I was employed as a cybersecurity intern by the academic computing and networking services at CSU. I quickly developed a deep passion for cybersecurity and computer science and decide to go back to school to learn more.

While studying for my master's, I have been employed as a Junior Systems Administrator for the Computer Science department, managing over 600 Unix machines. This summer I am also working for Hedera Hashgraph as a developer advocate intern providing educational content on how to leverage the Hashgraph distributed network.

I love python, Linux, rust, and cryptography. If you share any of these interests, don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to sharing my technical experiences with all of you hear and learn from the community. Thanks for reading :)

Hello! I discovered this place by following a workshop online.
I have 33yo and I studied c++,php and mysql in my high school; after that I worked for 10 years as accountant in a big forniture firm in Italy but, after gave birth to my second son, I decided that I wanted to change path and work as a developer.
So I start again studying (because I forgot EVERYTHING!), but this time I started from Front-End. So I learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. Now I'm curious about NoSQL DB and to go deeper in what I already learnt.
Hope to find here the place where I'll be inspired!

A lawyer? wow!
Yeah, I think it's more creative and I needed something like this in my life.
Now, I hope very hard to find a job soon, so I can have some experience and not only courses!
What's your experience?

Adam Howard

I am completely self-taught (big shout out to Coursera, edX and Udacity) and I started learning mostly as a way to keep myself busy after my first kid was born. After doing that for a while, I sort of realized that I could probably get someone to pay me to keep doing this thing I enjoy! For me, finding a job was pretty easy (in 2015, in a regional tech hub in the US). I went to some career fairs, sent out some resumes, bombed a few interviews, but eventually got hired by the company I still work for. The best thing I've found about this field is that what you can do counts for way more than where (or if) you went to school. Something that I don't think gets emphasized very much in universities, boot camps, and online classes is that advancement in a programming career depends at least as much on your people skills as it does on your technical skills. Being willing to mentor team members with less experience, being able to communicate well in writing, and approaching issues from a collaborative and problem-solving viewpoint have kept me moving up the career ladder pretty quickly.

Good luck with the job hunt!

I read that most of the people that change career path, they do it always in the company where they're actually working. This things fright me a bit! But thank you to share your experience with me, it helps me to know where to find more places great to study!

Usually after every lecture I tend to keep researching more on the learned topic, so In the process I stumbled across a youtube video explaining why web presence is important for developers and so I decided to take part in those platforms.
I hope to learn more about the dev community and eventually take part in it!

Hi all,

I used to hate programming, but now, I love it. I studied industrial engineering, but I worked for an Android app start up (Themer) for a two years before doing some engineering. However, I started to shift towards marketing, starting my own digital marketing agency. My focus was on web design, however, we use WordPress to design quick and simple sites.

I was getting tired of the clunky system, and started looking into HTML/CSS/JS. Everything is tough, but way more flexible.

So now, I'm on my path to become a front-end dev, and maybe even full-stack one day :)

Hi All, I'm Marc.

I'm a current student at NYC's Brooklyn College going on to my final semester for a Bachelors in Comp Sci. While attending school I work for a financial services company currently dipping our toes into blockchain territory as a web dev. During my college lifetime, I primarily wanted to focus on Machine Learning and Web Development.

The first 2.5 years of Uni I spent developing my python skills and learning about Data Science/ML concepts. I've now been focusing on developing myself as a Full Stack Developer particularly of the MERN stack. I've got a lot to learn, but I really do enjoy the field, I especially love to think about difficult problems to solve, even though I tend to break my brain doing so.

Feel free to reach out, I would love to learn more about you and share skills with you in this field. Thank you!

Hi I'm Aditya
Currently SAP ABAP Developer for about 7 years now.
Start programming since I was in College about 10 years ago because my Major was Computer Science. At that time I was developing various web and android related app.

Since doing SAP ABAP developer for a living, I have on and off relationship with the other technology and programming languages such as Javascript, PHP, Python, and others because I do love to learn more about those but also I have limited time to learn it (or building apps with it).

Also Freelancing or part time related to other than SAP ABAP would be nice.

Cheers :)

Hi there - I'm Jack,

I'm one of the founding team over at oblivious.ai where we build privacy and security tech for data science.

In my past life, I worked in many ML and data science projects/companies where getting access to data was basically impossible. It would kill projects before the even began.

So we've been building Oblivious to help others side step these challenges by making privacy enhancing technologies easy to encorporate throughout the dev process.

My team and I will be blogging on here to help others hopefully avoid the mistakes we've made along the way and bootstrap their privacy-tech development journey!

Looking forward to interacting with you and reading your posts on the topic too,

Jack

PS: We are VC backed and building a great team, if you want to spend you days building something that makes a genuine positive impact on society - drop us a line!

What's good, everyone?
I'm TéJaun. I'm a Content Manager at LogDNA in Mountain View, California, but I work remotely in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. I studied Computer Science at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to be a Front-End Web Developer and I regularly keep in touch with the engineers in our company in order to stay sharp. However, I made the jump to Content Writing/Management after spending 4 years doing it while in school. I'm very sure that I'll end up being a software engineer within the next few years though.

My favorites in terms of stack are Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and, more recently, React. I'd also love to learn Vue. Outside of coding, I like writing and reading, so this place seemed like an ideal spot for me to read and write about my tech-related endeavors.

It's nice to meet you all.
