Hello community! I'm here to meet cool peeps, research interesting topics, and mix up the daily grind of job-seeking. Give me a holler if you want to talk anything game dev, web dev, React, C#, or movies. Also I can talk for hours about what makes a real Philly Cheesesteak.

Cool. So mostly js? Professionaly i work on a lot of wordpress stuff with html, css, js/react and php. But besides that i use whatever gets the job done! 😊 Are you a dev for a living yet? Or are you still learning?

Mostly js, yeah. I am currently applying for jobs because I am graduating very soon.

I have done a freelance job before and might do some more freelance for a bit to get by and learn more depending on how long the job search goes. Covid changed things up a bit, so I have to stay flexible.

Covid is making things a bit more difficult for sure. But who knows your freelance gig will be very succesfull, and you wont need to find a job. I did it for a couple of years myself, and it was a really nice way to make a living! 😊

Hi there! I'm Varun, a high school student with a great passion for computer science. I've been coding for 5 years now with React, Android, REST, HTML, CSS, and Node in my toolbox and I came to dev.to so I could start tech blogging. I'm excited to meet new people on here as well!

Thank you! I think I'll start with writing about my experiences with coding projects, as I have no mentor and am self-taught (like lots of people). There's a lot of stuff that other people can do or not do that I didn't know, so that's what I hope to give from my blog posts.

Hi everyone 👋 ! I'm Alex(andre), a full-stack developer from France, living in Prague, CZ, self-taught, and found of all things React, Node/JS, TS and GraphQL.

I usually speak at conferences, although now is quite a bad time for it so I'm trying to share knowledge with articles instead. 😊

As a formal linguist, it won't come as a surprise that I'm quite interested in the lexical/syntactical part of JS as a language.
Outside of work, I like to hack with Rust, Elixir and ReasonML.

Looking forward to meet new fellow devs with similar interests! 👋

Howdy! I've heard that this is a good place for folks who enjoy making neat programs and sharing that around, so I wanted to see what folks are making and share my own projects. I dig talking about programming architecture and design, so hit me up if that's on your plate! (She/her)
I'm also angling towards self-employed programming as a career, so if you were wanting to make something and my stuff seems up your alley then feel free to reach out about that too!

Hey! I have just started to dig into the Front-end web development, started off with HTML and CSS. I was kind of feeling alone in the journey, so a youtube video helps me land here. I am here to ask for help from senior fellows and share my projects for feedback. I kind of pivoted towards this programming career because of my passion and also because of the circumstances that I found myself in these days. I have a college degree in mechanical engineering but I couldn't motivate myself to pursue it as a career and end up selling medical equipment. During my studies, I feel attracted to coding but I didn't found enough opportunities. But I am all set now and ready to start learning what I am passionate about. I hope it will end well.

Hello everyone! It's great to be in this community of like-minds.

I'm here to learn, share, and collaborate. I work with JavaScript, and Python and try to follow the principles I know (DRY, KISS, YAGNI).

Sometimes I get stuck (don't we all?) for hours and days trying to figure something out. I believe learning from this community will reduce that (to hours, at least).

I'm open for freelance gigs and collaboration.

Cheers!

Greetings DEV Community!

It's a pleasure to join and I look forward to making many new contacts, technical discussions, and answers to fix dev tool or code design problems when they go off the deep end, leaving me googling for hours to figure out a fix!

You can see from my profile picture, I play the trumpet, and aside from computers, it's one of my deepest passions. So when I get stuck on the computer, I blow my horn to clear my head out.

I studied computer architecture, imaging, AI, algorithms, and everything computers back in the mid-80s while in college for my BS and MS in Computer Engineering. I also got my MBA after that. You can see on my Linkedin profile (linkedin.com/in/josephlortiz) which starts in the 90s (yes due to age discrimination), I've been around the block. What's not on profile are jobs as a Unix/C/BSH/Client-Server/Mother-Board software engineer.

If you are on LinkedIn, connect with me!

So I have seen the industry go from departmental LANs using timeshare character-based terminals, to the first email addresses, to internetworked client-server systems with X-Windows bit-mapped terminals, mobile phones the size of bricks, to the first digital cameras and PDAs, to SaaS being a wonderful new thing, the internet bubble burst, enterprise-class applications siloed at a departmental level, to data in the cloud, to now almost every product touting that some feature is based on AI or machine learning.

We currently live in an amazing time with Digitial Transformation taking place systemically across all industries.

So right now, I'm an entrepreneur. I'm becoming part of a startup with a great idea, and they need an MVP to get the business running. I'm building the MVP.

To create a Mobile/Web solution, I am using Dart and Flutter and developing using Android Studio (ouch). The backend is less clear to me. I think Ruby on Rails and a Postgresql database should cover the data flow end-to-end. I'm doing all the development on my sweet Alienware laptop with GPU that I got to process GoPro Fusion 360 video. It works great for development.

However I will need to migrate the backend to AWS so once we start landing users, we will be able to dynamically scale up the service. I'm a novice with AWS and have only spun up servers and set up some services.

I also will have questions about everything I'm working on, but also the security of user data, user authentication processes, database schema strategies, and so on.

Anyway, I figured if I spilled my guts here, I may get a better reaction and more specificity to my interactions with the DEV community.

Thanks!

Kind Regards,

Joe Ortiz

Hey! I am a recent Information Systems graduate with a background in social media marketing, growth, UI/UX, and product design. I always thought coding was something I could never learn because it seems like rocket science, but I am finally jumping in. I am working on a project for iOS. I have been told to look into learning React Native and Expo to get started.

Project: Habit Sharing App with Social Features

Example: habitshareapp.com/

If there are any iOS Developers (React Native, Swift) here with experience, it would be awesome if you could give me some advice on how to begin/guide me to some of the best resources to begin learning this skillset.

Hi everyone 👋

I'm an aspiring Full-Stack Web Developer with my main focus being the MERN stack. This year was supposed to be my freshman year at university, but for the last few months, I've been shacked up at home doing online school due to covid 😞 (although I have had a lot of time to learn web dev). I don't have a single person that I can talk to about React, Javascript, UI/UX, or anything else web dev and it's killing me inside!

If there's anyone out there who wants to connect, I'd be more than happy to chat!
