State machines and state machine diagrams aren't as popular in web development compared to other software industries. So personally, I haven't had the chance yet to use a state machine.
I've read up on them though and listened to a few podcasts. The most popular one that I've heard of is XState and I think there's a huge benefit to building more predictable UIs this way. I hope the concept and tools are more popularized in web development.
