This is a good question! When I explain what I do I usually say something like "I do coding, sometimes, but mostly I talk to people".
This is of course different depending on what role, type of company and seniority you have. I say code is merely a tool to solve real life problems but that seldom converts into an actual understanding on their side.
Usually they quickly change the subject after this 😂 and I don't blame them!
