Artificial Intelligence AI (like your ex) can act as if it understands you and has feelings.
With advancement in AI, should we start reconsidering what a human is?
Facebook AI demonstrates that robots can and will evolve to the point of generating algorithmic knowledge on their own. They will no longer need to be fed data to learn.
This plus their ability to imitate emotions will make them seem pretty human so should they have rights?
Saudi Arabia went ahead and awarded full citizenship to Sophia, a humanoid robot.
Here's what ChatGPT (an AI) had to say when asked if AI deserves rights should it become as smart as humans.
Whether or not AI deserves rights is a discussion that should be had before the robots get smart enough to demand rights. You have watched the movie The Matrix haven't you ?
Are you pro AI rights ?

Wow! This is such a deep discussion and I don't truly know where I stand. As of yet, I haven't met an AI that I felt needed rights, but theoretically I feel like we could reach a point where there may be AI deserving of rights. I'm open to the idea of it!
And, I love the Matrix! There's also a movie of short, animated films that are set in the Matrix universe called the Animatrix. There are some really compelling stories that kinda dig into the whole idea of AI rights. You can watch a lot of it right here on YouTube.
We could definitely reach a point where there will be AI that we feel deserve rights probably because of the contribution they will have have made. Such interesting times.
Thank you for the Animatrix stories suggestion, such great storytelling of thought provoking ideas.
To deserve the rights, AI would need to have its own will. I don't think it will happen any time soon. Right now AI is only an algorithm, complex one but still an algorithm. Right now AI don't think and don't feel. If it will change I'm open to giving them rights. If they will be like human, they should have rights. But it may not happen during our lifetime.
Interesting point about AI having its own will. Definitely having rights is appreciated and makes sense more for beings with free will.
