What are your thoughts on low-code platforms?

Every day, I see commercials for low-code platforms, and I was curious, so I looked into it. Many people believe that low-code or no-code platforms are the future.

Do you know if it's a smart idea to invest in those platforms?

Low-code makes a lot of sense. Get the basic stuff out of the way quickly, then concentrate on business logic in order to customize the apps. I think it is especially great because people who don't have a ton of programming experience, can still make apps. I'm biased, though: I work for Jetveo.io, a low-code platform.

Low-code platforms have been there for a while (for eg: Zoho Creator). Having the comfort of no coding can definitely save lot of money for companies if the platforms can solve the business problems with flexibility. The challenge comes when something needs to be customized. If this problem is solved, I guess they would definitely have good future.

IMO low-code and no-code platforms are a part of the greater ecosystem. The comparison that comes to mind is photography: using an DSLR camera vs using your phone. With DSLR, knowing the technical aspects of photography allows you to customize the quality of the photo you take on a really detailed level. Phone cameras remove the need for a lot of the technical know-how while still providing great quality photos.
