The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
As the need of the hour is primarily technology and betterment of humanity , IEEE can be looked upon as a broad collaboration platform for the tech enthusiast students. Here I am sharing my experience with IEEE as a student . It really moves the basic understanding of practical applications towards engineering and technology. It provides the development and professional aspects for the career and also helps in building a student’s overall personality.
IEEE is an initiative to bring exposure to the members about the advancements in the technical field, build confidence and interaction with experts. It envisions to “Lead a wave of change” through its technical advents for the betterment of society. Since it’s inception in 2009, a team of conscientious and zealous IEEE volunteers, holding various positions of responsibility, work with utmost dedication to make each event a huge success.
IEEE works into building the college’s biggest technical society for engineering, computing, and technology information. An IEEE Student Branch provides opportunities to meet and learn from fellow IEEE Student and Graduate Student Members and engage with professional IEEE members locally. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements of your academic career, offering programs, activities, and professional networking opportunities that build critical skills outside of the classroom. IEEE currently has Student Branches at thousands of universities and colleges in hundreds of countries throughout the world.

These are the key aspects that benefits you as a student member:
@ Opportunities to network on a local level
@ Free website hosting
@ Obtain funding for events, projects, and activities
@ Develop projects and obtain sponsorship based on your IEEE affiliation
@ Receive support for hosting professional awareness programs
@ Connect with other like minded student groups to advance the IEEE mission
It has served as an effective networking channel bringing together the past and present members together who complement the other in collectively contributing to ideas and projects. Society members can also visit other colleges and participate in the competitions being held there to represent their respective colleges at different levels. Moreover, societies also help to provide good exposure to the students as they are associated with reputed organisation and individuals, who can guide them efficiently.Overall, the college societies for technologies experience is fun as students form new friendships, get to meet like-minded people, and most importantly enjoy being part of something that helps them to learn practical things from outside the books as well as enhance their CV. Apart from this, students who are not members of a college IEEE society can also bring out their creativity and showcase their talent in the various competitions, fests and events organised IEEE.
IEEE has been subject to several upgrades and with each new development, it has striven to reach closer to it’s goals.
For understanding it better, we should have a look on their vission which is as follow -
