What is your biggest flop at work & what did you learn from it?

Hi there πŸ‘‹

I was once asked in an interview "What have you done at work and what did you learn from it". I was amazed at the question, I proceeded to answering it as honestly as I could.

I would love to hear your stories and the lessons you learnt from it.

It was probably in my second year of working at our small company. There were five of us at the time, I was the most junior person on the team, just out of college. I had bombed on some implementation. It just did not work the way that I thought it was going to. I showed it to the lead developer on the project and he flat out told me it was wrong and to go and figure it out.

I spent another four hours in our cramped attic of an office, across from the scowling lead dev trying to figure it out. About an hour before close of business, I sucked up my pride and went over to tell him just how wrong I was and to ask for help.

He looked at me and said, "it took you long enough to ask for help, we were going to let you go if you didn't."

I learned that asking for help is way easier than looking for a new job.

This happens to meπŸ˜„, my boss told me that it's better to ask stupid questions than to do stupid things. πŸ˜…

πŸ˜„ Asking for help is certainly easier than job hunting. Great lesson learned.

Have done many things but the central lesson learnt had been, NEVER ASSUME

True @yutee_okon . Even in our every day lives we should rarely assume instead we should ask for the actual information.
