Drupal 10 update: October 2022

In Drupal's long history, version 10 is only a watershed moment. Drupal 10.0 will be functionally identical to Drupal 9.5; however, it will have been upgraded to remove support for any third-party modules that will shortly be discontinued. A lot of the features that were supposed to be in Drupal 10 are really in Drupal 9.4, and some of the features that were supposed to be in Drupal 10 at launch might not even be in Drupal 10 until Drupal 10.1 or later.

Drupal 11 Is Up Next
We have an idea of what Drupal 11 will bring. That will centre on the non-developers who use Drupal on a regular basis, transforming them from content producers into power users. This is great news for the development team since it frees them up to focus on expanding Drupal's feature set after we've created a solution that clients can maintain on their own. Drupal 11 won't arrive until late 2024.

Feel like Drupal isn't a good fit?
Lots of folks have tried Drupal and found it wanting. A portion of said history may be traced back to earlier versions of Drupal (5, 6, and 7). However, that was then; now, everything is different. Large changes occurred with Drupal 8. Drupal 10 steals Wordpress's thunder without a hint of remorse, and it does so much more too.

Drupal 7's dated features are holding you back. There is support available from us at Code Enigma.

The truth is, your customers are missing out if they're still using Drupal 7, and their site's future prospects aren't the best if you continue. There is a lot of work involved in making the switch from Drupal 7, but the process is much simpler from Drupal 8 to 9. Since Drupal 8 has reached end-of-life, you really should be using Drupal 9.

If you've been keeping their Drupal 9 sites up to date, the transition to Drupal 10 when it launches in December 2022 should be smooth. If not, we're highly versed in project recovery and we can help, or fully take over if you've hit an unexpected problem and can't solve it.

Now is the time to upgrade to Drupal 9 or 10, what with the impending release date and all the cool new features described in this post. Our blog will bring you up to speed on all the most recent developments in the Drupal community, explain why migration is so important, and detail how we can facilitate a seamless transition while maximising the return on investment for your customers.

If you would want to discuss a problematic migration of an existing site, deployment, hosting or other seemingly unsolvable issues you're having, please get in contact.
