TLDR
Driven by the need for greater digital connection, the metaverse is the next way people will interact with technology.

Agreed. VR Googles give me a headache...
First, itβll start with AR. As more high powered VR headsets become more affordable, VR will get better and better and itβll give you less of a headache.
Haha a lot of companies looking into it; Apple, Microsoft, FB.
Microsoft just bought Activism games for $69 billion. Seems like this may be their entry into VR/metaverse tech.
The oddest thing I don't understand about the metaverse is the fact it already exists.
Examples listed above like Roblox, and more classical examples like Second Life aren't fundamentally different than the "metaverse".
Throwing blockchain, NFTs and VR ontop of those concepts doesn't actually change them from the general idea of a "virtual world".
There is no rule that promises that more technology means a better life and experience. At some point more technology either ends up being worthless bloat, or worse a detriment to health.
I think youβre right. The Metaverse is just a digital universe and weβve been living in it already. I believe as AR, VR, and other technologies advance, the digital universe will get more immersive; allowing us to have more realistic experiences.
Virtual worlds, especially in video games, have existed for awhile. The push to "gamify" our lives is a bit of a scary concept as we do move a large part of our lives to the web.
I agree with your last point, and I think the study highlighted by Tristan Harris offers a realistic view of the potential harm more technology exposure can cause.
It might be the future, but not the near future. Some places in the world are still struggling with connectivity issues, network services in some countries are still at 3G, Internet costs are still very high. especially when streaming data. Web developers are still working on progressive web apps that can be used by everyone, even those with disabilities. VR may always remain a luxury for the majority.
Also being that you cannot kinda publicly move around with them, it means there's limited multi tasking which is a required skill especially for the middle class.
We need to work on the issues we still have on the web, before we can upgrade to the metaverse.
However, there's also multiple episodes of Black Mirror that show how improved VR or metaverse might positively or negatively affect our lives.
I think AR will become first widely adopted. Then VR will follow along the way. Itβd be interesting to see AR fuse reality with the Metaverse.
Very good point. I think there is legitimate fear that new technology, especially those being pushed as the metaverse, can cause for more inequality.
As long as there's no "killer app" in the Metaverse it's a rather boring place.
What are some ideas you have for a killer app?

We cannot predict that metaverse as a future of technology because there are many technology is coming to beat this metaverse.
Interesting point. Can you share a few? Just curious.
See I cannot Know that beat metaverse but many latest technology is coming so I cannot list-out which is best? Just wait for future
No
Lololol Ready Player One
Whoa, stepping into the metaverse sounds like a sci-fi dream coming true! The way Epic Games and Roblox are turning this virtual space into a playground with concerts and digital merch is mind-blowing. And let's talk about AI being the secret sauce for content moderation and building whole new worlds β it's like having a tech wizard behind the scenes. But, hey, Tristan Harris and crew bring up some legit worries about privacy and mental health. It's a wild ride into the future, and the author did a killer job laying it all out. Big thanks for breaking down the metaverse madness β definitely got me thinking about our digital destiny!

The Metaverse will produce unfathomable quantities of data. How can any human process all that information? They canβt. Welcome AI to the rescue!
Wonder what data privacy laws will be if the tech. becomes more widely adopted.
