WN15: What is the best piece of content you found?

Another week has passed, and here we want to get the best pieces of content you found during the week!

It really can be anything:

  • videos
  • posts
  • tweets
  • books
  • motivation
  • etc.

Share anything that added value to your journey and could add value to other people's journey.

So, what is the best piece of content you found this week?

This week I tried out some AWS services with Angular, but you can find the same with React and Vue.

First impression: wow, super cool, it works!!!.
Second impression: How on earth can I change "whatever you want" without breaking the whole thing??

Final thoughts: AWS Amplify hides a lot of the complexities related to the AWS ecosystem. It's a great way in, but nowhere near enough to understand those services.

Opinions on AWS or competitors?

I think there's this misconception (driven by our world of late-stage capitalism maybe) that anything you do, even as a hobby, has to be done for the sake of extrinsic gains such as hits or views or likes or shares or even monetary profit. Those things are nice probably, but if you're getting into something for such gains, it really may become difficult to sustain.

For me, blogging and maintaining this website are a hobby that I enjoy. The same way that some people enjoy tinkering with cars or old computers or cosplay or such, I enjoy tinkering around with this site, writing posts, figuring out the best writing style for me and so on. I don't do it because I think I'll make a profit or become famous or whatever. I do it because it gives me joy.

Thanks for sharing Roy!
At the moment, I am just tinkering with AWS because I want to understand how to save data on a server or use other services like authentication.
I also played a bit with the MERN stack for the same reason, despite being a frontend developer.
