Developer diary #4. Scripts everywhere

Scripts are some kind of magic. If you want to do something, you should, like Harry Potter, tell/write some magic words. Your strength is measured by how many of these words you know. The possibility of combining these words is the next level of proficiency in magic.

This is an area where there is no highlighting or auto-completion, which makes us strong programmers and helps us feel itself better. It is an area of clean programming skills.

I never heard about knowing the principle of scripting being an important skill for a starting developer. Every time, we learn it when we try to solve real tasks. We learn it through mistakes and pain. It happens because scripts are very different from technology to technology, but the key principles are the same every time.

I totally agree with you. In opposite programming languages, it is complicated to find useful courses about scripting. I think, developer should be focus on work with terminal for environment each he/she preferred. It is good exercise to work with git or files from command line or to work.
