Reasons to Choose Android over iPhone

The smartphone industry is arguably one of the fastest evolving one in the tech industry. In just over a decade, we’ve gone from clunky touchscreen phones to phones that can do everything a proper computer can and more. It’s astounding to observe just how powerful and multi-functional our phones have become. There are two companies we have to thank for the smartphones we have today, Google and Apple.

Both Google and Apple’s respective mobile operating systems, Android and iOS, respectively, dominate the smartphone market share. With features like smart AI, through which a user can ask their phone for best assignment writing service UK, both have held their own against competition from Microsoft, Blackberry and Nokia at one point or another to stay on top. But even though Android and iPhones share similarities with each other, they couldn’t be more different in a lot of ways.

Android and iPhone never had a quiet or peaceful history with each other. In fact, both share a fierce rivalry with each other, stemming from the founders themselves. Android vs iPhone has become a never-ending battle, with people from both camps arguing over which is better. But, here are some reasons to go with Android over iPhone nonetheless.

Better Value

What started as somewhat of an affordable smartphone for many people by Apple, iPhones have skyrocketed in price over the years. Today, the latest iPhone costs well over an eye-watering 1000 pounds mark, with the affordable model being an exception. There’s an argument to be had whether such a high price is even justified or not.

Thankfully, people can still get their money’s worth by opting for an Android. There used to be a time when cheap and affordable Android phones used to be utter disappointments, but that is no longer the case in 2019. Android phones come in all shapes and sizes by a host of manufacturers. Some manufacturers have even made a name for themselves by launching phones that feature flagship level specs at a price that is in reach of the majority. There is absolutely no doubt that Android is the better value when compared to the iPhone.

Customisation

Let’s just put this out there bluntly; Android is way ahead of Apple in the customisation department. Apple is a highly secretive company when it comes to it, locking down its OS and preventing users from being able to customise much of it really.

Android meanwhile is an open-source piece of software, meaning anyone can take Android’s source code and customise it. But the customisation for Android doesn’t need to run that deep either. Even on the surface level, every Android phone is customisable in a host of ways. Changing home screens, home launchers, icon packs etc. are just some of the ways an Android phone can be personalised according to individual tastes. Then there are the widgets and skins. Skins can completely change the look of Android phones, whereas widgets are small home screen apps capable of providing at-a-glance information without the need for opening an app.

Universal Standards

Like its operating system, Apple tends to introduce and keep its propriety standards on its iPhones. This is a greedy tactic because the peripherals for these iPhones are also made by Apple itself. But Android follows universal standards, further bolstering its value proposition.

With USB type C becoming a standard for Android phones, many new exciting opportunities have opened up. USB type C is able to deliver faster-charging speeds as well as play Audio through wired headsets. Oh, it is also a universal standard increasingly being used to power all types of gadgets ranging from laptops, tablets, audio accessories to smart wearables. Win-Win!
