How to transition your career into Cloud

Hello Cloud Learners,

First of all, thanks for your time visiting to this page and appreciate your interest to start cloud career.

Why everybody is talking about cloud ? What's there in it and people are jumping into start using.

Cloud computing started in 2000's (AWS Services from 2006) during that time cloud computing infrastructure model gave them flexibility to use their computer’s capacity much more efficiently.

In 2006, Amazon launched Amazon Web Services, which offers online services to other websites, or clients. One of Amazon Web Services’ sites, called Amazon Mechanical Turk, provides a variety of cloud-based services including storage, computation and “human intelligence.” Another of Amazon Web Services’ sites is the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), allowing individuals to rent virtual computers and use their own programs and applications.

During the initial stage they were still undeveloped, and not very popular because of concerns with poor security. After 2010 it became very popular and companies started using Compute, storage, database, networking and many other services from cloud providers.

Now, almost every company planning to migrate to cloud because of many benefits as listed below.

Cost savings (CapEx vs OpEx)
Flexibility/Scalability
Mobility
Increased collaboration
High speed Quick deployment (Go global in minutes)
Automatic Software Updates and Integration
Data Security
Unlimited Storage Capacity
Back-up and Restore Data and many more.,.,

Now will start diving into Cloud computing concepts.

What is cloud computing?
In very simple terms "servers in a third-party data center" it means the delivery of on-demand computing services — from applications to storage and processing power — typically over the internet and on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Now, you got the very basic concepts of Cloud computing and bit confused where to start and how you can practice by your own.

No worries, there are many Cloud experts are there to guide us. Here just sharing few important resources to get more familiar on cloud concepts and hands on.

First of all, decide by yourself which cloud is best for you. Let's say in your company they are already using AWS then go with that. One good point is underlying concepts are same with all cloud providers only the terms may vary from them.

Ok, now decided which one to go far then what would be the next step.

Planning to do certification or getting hands on or start doing cloud projects ? Stop, just come out from your mindset only for the certification you are going to use for Cloud computing it's more that that. Just realize the meaning of this (Knowing vs Doing) you'll get the answer.

Yes, rather than watching many videos and reading books you must do some hands on with your own account or with some cloud learning providers sandbox environment.

Definitely, If you do more hands on you will get confident on Cloud concepts and it will be very useful for you to start many project by your own.

Here're my best resources to get familiar on cloud concepts:

First, spend sometime on YouTube by watching Cloud basics videos
Subscribe for Cloud training provider subscriptions (Just look for yearly promotion so that you can be relaxed and do continuous learning for one year)
Follow Cloud experts in LinkedIn
Join some Cloud computing User groups (Can be anything WhatsApp, Telegram, AWS User Groups, LinkedIn groups et.,)

Happy Learning !!

All the very best for your cloud journey and feel free to reach out to me.
