Neat read! I've always struggled with implementation and best practices (in both professional and personal projects). My workspace is a sea of chaos and my pipelines are non-existent. This was a good reminder that it doesn't have to be that way.
It definitely doesn’t xD, but it takes time. And it’s totally worth it BTW.

If you're going to start with flutter I strongly recommend you to review how git submodules work before starting a new project :D
You're probably gonna be using those to get flutter updated on your repo.

New here. I've been a passionate Python dev (self-taught) since 2019. I can confidently call my level of experience with the language to be somewhere between an adept and an expert. I try to use programming in every area of life where it might be helpful (or usually, just interesting / fun).
I tend to suffer crippling imposter syndrome, and I feel as developers, some of us can over isolate in a field that can credit its success to collaboration. This seems like a good place to work on that.
In no particular order, here's what I got going on:

Since retiring, I am doing projects around the house, and on my Diet Support program (Ruby on Rails). Will be looking seriously into Kotlin and Rust next. Actually came here looking for info on nix, standalone home-manager and multi host, multi-architecture configuration (using flakes with home-manager).
I've got it working great on two machines running MacOS, but trying to get my home-manager config to work with a Linux machine running NixOS and standalone home-manager.

And I just read about a 90 year old Lady, that was not allowed to be a volunteer for the MS society, because they asked about her Pronoun - I am Danish - and danish is my native language - but I also speak English, as my mother was English (but only everyday English (and that's not always the same as everyday American !).
But when I had to registere here a DEV, you put the question to me : your pronoun ? (I believe that's what you asked ! ) -
and I had no Idea, what the F**** you where talking about (I'm not 90 only 74)
So I used Google translate and that didn't help, the first search gave me the flowing
Eng : Pronouns - Danish : Pronominer
That something that you use in grammar !!, not in everyday life, and actually that's only an academic term - so I Googled it in danish (What does "Pronominer" mean in everyday danish ? ) Google came up with the good old danish word - that I understod :"Stedord"
I looked it up in a danish grammar, and if you google translate the answer from the danish grammar to English you get : "Pronouns {Stedord in danish} (pronouns) are important small words such as he, the, our, mine, etc. They refer to people, objects or relationships without using a name or description. I saw him, but he did not see me. They saw Peter and me and ran their way."
Now - I'm still pondering, what that has to do with me !!!
Tell me if I am wrong ! : I am a HE - not that that has anything to do with DEV and programmering - so why do you want to know this ??? OK, I know that the name Kim can be a woman or a man - and what has that to do with programmering ??? will my code suddenly change if I a was a women or a trans.. - I really don't care, what sex anyones has, as long as they can help me, understand some technical problem I face -
or will I be suspended from DEV because, I really didn't understand what all this was about, until 1 hour ago, when I read about a 90 year old lady ....

I'm 67 and about to retire as a technical trainer in industrial maintenance. In my early career I was and electrical engineer, mostly working with PLCs. I've been learning Python as something new to learn, with the goal of using it along with micropython for building microcontroller projects. I joined the DEV community to take advantage of the wealth of information.
Very new here and with most of this in general. I got interested in Termux and the Tools-X use for hacking, but as I got further I started getting the message “repo under maintenance”. I am here to figure out how to install using another avenue such as F-Droid but I’m just following the threads. That’s about it. Any advice or helpis always appreciated.
