The 7 Most Popular DEV Posts from the Past Week

Every Monday we round up the previous week's top posts based on traffic, engagement, and a hint of editorial curation. The typical week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday, but don't worry, we take into account posts that are published later in the week. ❤️

1. Common Misconceptions

Emma recommends which technologies to avoid if you're just starting your journey in code. There are lots of resources/tools out there and sometimes it's just easier to explain what not to do.

2. Will remote be your thing?

Martín shares their learnings from working remote the last ten years. Great article for anyone considering the move!

3. A Simple Framework

James breaks down the software development career path into six stages: coder, junior, intermediate, senior, lead dev, and tech lead. Which stage do you see yourself in?

4. "On-call, 24/7"

Molly shares their burnout story and advice to help others recognize the signs of burnout in themselves or others.

5. Awesome DEV Links

Turns out my recent post was well received :)

This post is a list of resources for portfolio building, interviewing, and starting a new DEV job.

6. Write Less Code

Nick replaced an entire app they were maintaining on the side by leveraging GitHub Actions!

7. Make Your life Easier

Ryan shows us the power of customization when providing arguments to bash scripts at call time.

That's it for our weekly wrap up! Keep an eye on dev.to this week for daily content and discussions...and if you miss anything, we'll be sure to recap it next Monday!

Good job guys/gals! Def. didn't expect to be on here this week 🤯

I really resonated with Molly's article:

Something I've had to deal with trying juggle all the extra "stuff" I've been doing on the side. Sometimes, for those who are really busy with normal everyday stuff, even getting a blog post finished up can be stressful! 😨
