As an enthusiast Ada developer, I cheer the introduction of the type system.

Duck typing is nice for its flexibility, but when the code gets a bit more complex type constraints help in making much more robust code.

My first programming language was Java, although I haven't written Java in years, so I'm glad that ruby is getting some kind of type system, but I'm not sure whether I like this approach. I don't know ruby enough to comment on the rest.

I'm excited about the upcoming type system. The past few years, I've been getting into other languages like Elm and Rust, and getting that same help while writing Ruby will be awesome!

I'm also excited about the upcoming JIT features that will hopefully end up being the default for all Ruby/Rails applications in the coming years, getting better performance without leaving the language I love writing code in. 😄
