It actually has better specs than my 11 years old (from 2007) Sony laptop.
But my laptop's battery life (10 minute) is much longer than RPi4's battery life (n/a).

Same here, I bought the previous generation two months ago...although I mostly use it to test out how a software of mine performs on low-end machines - had so many ideas to work on but no time to learn more about it so far.
What did you use the cluster for? Been thinking about building a K8s cluster with these new Pis.

Even overkill IMO, the $35 model or the RPi 3 should be more than enough.
$55 for the high end version and $120 for the full kit... Im not sure what I would use a pi for that I would be willing to spend that kind of money on...

Because of it's resources I intend to replace my old test server based on Pi3. I hope to work much better with Ubuntu server and MySql because version 3 is a little slow. Basically I use it mostly for my Go projects.

Yes. In Go you can write pretty complex applications wich run very good on low resources hardware like Raspberry. A big advantage is that you can use Raspbian desktop and LiteIDE to write the apps directly on it (imagine that is very easy for IoT applications which use GPIO). This environment works well on the old Pi3 and I'm expect to work much better on Pi4.
Mine arrived in the post today - everything I've tried and bothered to benchmark is 2-3x faster. Storage via usb and ethernet are way faster and seem to cause less load too.

I live a relatively short train journey from Cambridge, where there's a dedicated Raspberry Pi store, and I've been meaning to go there when I have a week off work next month. Guess I have even more reason now!
