Never have I ever used Tailwind

🥃 well I know absolutely nothing about it, it's supposed to be this great way of working with CSS and here's me with my scss and my CSS wondering if I will regret not learning it, but I say no, no more, I won't live in fear of not adopting a framework or tooling, I won't join the hype train... I'm sticking to fundamentals until I have a need.

So am I right? Sell me tailwind in the comments I promise I will not be idealistic but pragmatic

Tailwind is a tool. Use the right tool for the job. I don't like sales so I won't "sell" you.

Tailwind is kinda like functional programming for CSS. Everything is broken into small units and built from there.

Unlike Bootstrap which has its own grid system, component library etc and you build off of that with Sass.

It is NOT a framework. you build everything. It is a tool to help build a framework for a custom design system.

Tailwind works best If you're working off of professional designs (Figma, Photoshop etc) and are using Atomic Design.

Tailwind generates CSS classes for everything. You can limit the fonts, colors etc to only what your designs uses. No worries, you can purge the CSS so you're not loading a 100MB of CSS.

So you should build small HTML components and style them with Tailwind classes. Never use @apply or square brackets.

It is definitely a new approach to CSS to it takes time to grok.

Hope that helps as there isn't a lot good Tailwind information other than bad "it's awesome" and "it's terrible" articles by developers that don't understand it.

Hello Nate, perhaps then it's just something I will need to try out one day, at-least read about it a little. I'm glad it helps you, you seem to like it so 🙂

Yes. It's a good tool for what I do. I think it is misunderstood. People praise it and hate it for the wrong or no reasons.

You should join the debate I started 😂

Why is Tailwind CSS more popular than Bootstrap?

You can definetely ignore Tailwind until you face a job/project that requires it. Which is unlikely to happen anytime soon due to it's very low market share in business.
