I'm joining Buildable as a Developer Relations Engineer

Hi folks! The cat is finally outside the bag, and I'm excited to share that I've just joined Buildable as a Developer Relations Engineer! 🚀

Some of you might wonder the reason I decided to embark on this new adventure, hence, the reason for this post :)

My journey into Developer Relations

I started my journey as a FullStack Developer nearly three years ago. In my first role, I worked as a Frontend Engineer, but while at it, I soon discovered that even though I enjoyed writing code, I genuinely wanted to explore the flexibility of both writing code and creating content for developers.

As a result, I started getting active in the Chakra UI Open Source community and making a couple of Open Source contributions. Fast forward to some time in 2021, what began as an occasional contribution via content and community building at Chakra UI eventually evolved into my first Developer Relations role as an Open Source Developer Advocate (part-time).

As a Developer Advocate at Chakra UI, here are a couple of things I'm most proud of:

  • Created a weekly YouTube series called Component of The Week
  • Organized the first ever Chakra UI Hackathon for the community
  • Launched "Chakra UI for Beginners" Course
  • Gave talks at conferences and events
  • Contributed to the documentation
  • Triaged Github issues
  • Engaged on Twitter with developers in the Chakra UI ecosystem

At Chakra UI, I learned (and still learning) the uniqueness of Developer Relations and the huge part it plays in developer success.

It all started with a Tweet

Earlier this year, I decided it was time to explore a full-time role in Developer Relations and get knee-deep into this field. I was looking out for a company that focused on improving developer productivity and experience. It was also important for me to work at a place where I honestly loved the capabilities of their software and company culture.

So, on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in June, I was strolling the streets of Twitter, and I came across Mila's tweet:

I went to Buildable's site to learn more about the company and instantly loved the product and the problem it solves. So, I sent a DM to Mila, and after few days after days, the interview process kicked off. It was an exciting and stimulating interview process and the rest is history :)

About Buildable

Screenshot of Buildable.dev
Buildable is a platform that allows developers to build flexible and scalable backend automation and workflows for their apps with low code. Think Zapier, but for developers.

With Buildable, you can supercharge your business productivity by quickly integrating 3rd party APIs and connecting your data sources. You also save hundreds of hours spent in development by using some of our 2000+ open-source templates.

Why Buildable?

In a single dashboard, Buildable's low-code development platform lets you build robust enterprise applications, easily integrate with other APIs and deploy easily. It helps you:

  • Minimize backend complexity: Build and deploy performant backend logic, endpoints, and REST APIs for your apps in only a few clicks.

  • Integrate your data sources: Connect your existing database or spin up a new database cluster in only a few clicks.

  • Boost productivity by automating workflows: Streamline repetitive tasks into a single automated flow using Buildable's IDE. Every new flow is a customizable endpoint deployed on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Debug faster: Buildable's visual development canvas offers you the necessary guard rails when writing core backend logic to protect you from making costly mistakes that could negatively impact the quality of your code.

  • Provide frontend flexibility: Buildable does not limit you to a specific frontend architecture. You can connect with your choice low code frontend tool or JavaScript framework.

  • Integrate with tools you already love: Provides an easy way to connect with your popular tools for CMS, Databases, E-Commerce, Payments, Web3, and more.

Overall, Buildable's features reduce development costs and time to market for SaaS, Startups, and enterprise teams. With Buildable, you save a large chunk of time spent battling with infrastructure and development. We give you that time back so you can focus on your business and customers.

Looking ahead

Today is my first day as a Developer Relations Engineer at Buildable. I'm eager to build community, grow relationships with developers, create educational content, and support you on your journey with Buildable.

Best of all, we're launching a new version of Buildable soon and I can't wait to show you more of its superpowers 🔥

Lastly if you love Buildable and would love to work with us, we're hiring! Please send a DM to Mila.

Let's do this!

PS I understand the importance of community when building, so by all means, join us on our Discord community or access some of our helpful content on YouTube.

PPS Got questions on how to become efficient with your backend using Buildable or looking for ways to build better workflows for your company? My DMs are open, please reach out via Twitter DM.
