The story of JSConfMX began in 2018, when a group of JavaScript enthusiasts came together with a shared vision: to create a vibrant community for developers in Mexico. We saw the JSConf event in Berlin and worked to establish a chapter here in Mexico, as well as to create our name and social media presence. What started as an idea quickly transformed into an exciting project that required dedication, collaboration, and a great deal of passion.
From the beginning, the goal was clear: we wanted to organize an event that not only shared knowledge but also fostered networking and collaboration. Planning our first event was underway, and the excitement was palpable. However, in 2020, the pandemic forced us to face a significant challenge. The decision to cancel our inaugural event was devastating, but we didn’t want our vision to fade away.
Instead of giving up, we decided to adapt. We created a virtual experience that allowed us to connect with our community despite the limitations. Through two successful online events, we discovered the true potential of virtual gatherings. We launched talks and workshops with speakers from around the world, enabling us to build a space where ideas flowed freely and collaboration became the norm.
We have faced many challenges as an event, as a team, and within the community in Mexico. However, these challenges have strengthened us and made our community more united. We’ve learned to create safe spaces for our attendees and to provide the best experience possible at each event.
Throughout this journey, I have learned invaluable lessons about adaptability and the importance of teamwork. Watching our initial idea transform into a platform that brings together developers from diverse backgrounds has been truly inspiring.
Today, I look toward the future with excitement. The mission of JSConfMX remains alive, and I am thrilled about the new opportunities that lie ahead. Our commitment to nurturing the JavaScript community is stronger than ever, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to innovate and grow together.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Here’s to many more years of learning, sharing, and connecting at JSConfMX!
