Are Prototypes Really Useful?

πŸ‘‡As a UXer, I understand that prototypes help communicate the design vision more clearly and tangibly. Instead of describing and receiving long PDFs with documentation, we aim to show functionalities and flows directly by creating functional prototypes.

Now, I have a question, Dev!, Do u find that prototypes help u understand design expectations better, or do they have any downsides?

In my opinion it depends on budget and scale of project.
For small applications with little budget simple drawing should be sufficient and can get job done.
For larger applications with unlimited money to burn, yeah prototypes make perfect sense. It can identify many problems and potential changes to UI, which really helps larger teams.
