At our company, we have a weekly program called "Mini-Talk" that takes place every Wednesday at 4:30 pm. The goal of Mini-Talk is to encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among team members. Every team member is welcome to participate and present on a topic of their choice.
How it works
Mini-Talk presentations can take on various forms. Some team members choose to do live coding and demonstrate a particular coding technique or feature. Others prepare content focused on areas where the team can improve or suggest new technologies that could benefit our work. Presentations are generally around 10-15 minutes long, with time for questions and feedback afterwards.
The Mini-Talk program is an opportunity for team members to develop their presentation skills and share their knowledge with colleagues. It is also a great way to learn from others and stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends. We encourage all team members to participate, whether they are experienced or new to public speaking.
In addition to the benefits for individuals, Mini-Talk also helps foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning within our team. By encouraging everyone to share their knowledge and ideas, we are able to work together more effectively and efficiently.
How do we decide who presents
We have out BOT, the BOTina, who is responsible to set the person who will talk to us in the week.
With our rotation command, we get the next person in the team to be responsible to prepare the mini talk of week!
