I don't get all the hate, the author receives in the comments.
People bash almost every program language there is (JS, PHP, Java .. and so on), but all of the languages have their purpose and were (and will be) a great solution to a variety of problems. It is the same with frameworks.

Of course he does not mean the frameworks are all bad all of the time. It's only that, to become better yourself, is to learn how every bit works (even if that means to understand the path of the electron on the silicon board).

Of course he does not mean for you to experiment, at the expense of the active project, you have in your company. Most companies have a well tested and well documented code base already, if your team is comfortable with that, than by any means use that. Choosing the right tech is always a team effort, but the message I received from this article (and live by), is to always be curious.
