Should I focus on learning JavaScript over the summer or learn a different language?

It depends, maybe you want to write web apps, phone/tablet apps for Android/iOS, desktop apps for Windows/Mac/Linux, or maybe you want to make server-side backends or services, games, etc. There are many different languages they can do those things. JavaScript can do them all though

I would start on web development to get some experience but i'd be a frontend developer

Well of course. But it would be great to choose a language with so many possibilities and so few limits. As opposed to choosing something that mostly just works on the server for example

If you want to do web development(frontend, etc..), JavaScript is the right choice for sure.

Depends what you want to do, but its generally a good starting choice. There's a lot of learning material for learning Javascript out there.

I strongly recommend you learn javascript. You can develop frontend as well as backend with javascript language.
