What’s a blog?

So what IS a blog? I’ve never been much of a social media person, and this is my first blog. I've always just been more of a lurker. An overwhelming majority of blogs these days seem to be tutorials, or maybe I'm just in the wrong places. To anyone reading this, what is a blog to you? A place to learn new skills or perspectives on things? Discussion zones?

I’m sure it’s going to take me awhile to get the hang of being a blogger, and I’ll be surprised if more than a single person ever reads this. But I guess you gotta start somewhere!

I've debating what having a blog means too.

And, I think I can mean different things, depending on what you want it to mean.

I see a blog as a personal, yet public subset of the internet. My content tends to be a blend of technical topics and random musings. I'd like it to be more technical (whatever that means)

I see a blog as a place to share what I've learned, what I am learning, where I'm struggling, with the greater developer community.

I can completely relate to this! At the same time, I feel a bit intimidated by all the other blogs out there. What if I'm just making a post that's been repeated a thousand times? Does my voice actually add to the discussion?

I guess we won't really know until we at least try!

Same! What I've learned is that you are a unique person witch unique experience. Want to write a post about a subject? Go for it. It does get easier.

And you're right, we don't know unless we try. I can find an excuse to avoid doing anything, especially writing a blog post.

Hey!

To me a blog is like a personal journal, except that it is open to the world.
I published my blog earlier this year, I felt intimidated at first, I doubted my abilities to write proper articles, but I thought to myself, hey! this is my blog I will give my best shot. I make a post per week, made my third one this week. U too can do it, just stop doubting urself and do it.
