I know a lot of people haven't played League of Legends yet. Just be prepared to be outplayed and destroyed until you get low enough in invisible MMR to get paired with people of equal skill finally. The best method would be to unlock the most available champions as soon as possible and start playing ranked, which is the most balanced place in this game -- get down to bronze-iron, and you'll finally get a chance to play.
