Hey Nishant,

Great question!

As a Community Manager here at DEV, I think it's absolutely okay for ya to post a daily journal. There are plenty of folks here on the site that are publishing posts for themselves more so than others. They might be taking notes for themselves, building a list of resources for themselves, or something else. I think that's a totally cool way to use the site!

If you decide to do this, I'd just recommend that you don't use loads of tags, so that your work is less likely to land in anybody's feed. A daily journal is more personal and likely most interesting to you, so you won't need to load it up with tags and get it seen by more people. We actually have the perfect tag for this called #devjournal.

#devjournal

Dear Diary...

And in the future, I'm hopeful that we release this feature to allow folks the ability to silently post. This way, if you're writing a journal post for yourself, you can do so without it landing in anybody's feed.

Thanks al lot @michaeltharrington , I was really not expecting somebody is going to response or not.

I have just started my daily journal on Medium and wanted to engage with the Dev.to community as well.

I really appreciate for replying me back. πŸš€

Oh, no probs at all. Happy I could help!

And I should also say that if you are writing your journal with other readers in mind, you can definitely use other tags in addition to #devjournal. But, if you're writing for yourself, you'll make less of a splash if you use less tags.

Also, if you want to repost articles that you shared on Medium, you should be able to import these posts via RSS... check out Publishing to DEV Community πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» from RSS in /settings/extensions. That'll make it easier for you to write your blog posts in one spot (Medium) and easily repost them here. To be clear, you can't set up auto-repost... once you set up the RSS link, your posts from Medium should auto import into your dashboard where you can edit and publish them.

Final tip: If you're trying to build up a readership, I recommend not publishing all your imported posts at once, but trickling them out one by one. The homepage (relevant) feed favors current articles, so it's a good tactic to regularly release new posts... and it's much easier to do that if you have a dashboard full of drafts to let out slowly.
