I find the Dyatlov Pass incident terrifyingly mysterious. There could be a bunch of ways you could interpret it. Madness, nature or a yeti. The list goes on. You could play as one of the hikers but plot twist. It was you who did it all along but dont realise it yet.

I did some research and it does seem pretty creepy
Something similar to the Descent films would be hella scary. Something that may make players feel claustrophobic or vulnerable. So another good one would be any sort of hide-to-survive games set in the depths of the ocean, or in old mining tunnels, caves, etc. A setting that limits the feeling of security and has the player desperately looking for just a brief safety net.
Maybe like your hiding from someone in a haunted ship wreak or somethin? maybe you had limited breath so every once in a while you have to find a bottle of air
