I agree totally with you. I'm a full stack, doing anything that is necessary to reach company goals. It really doesnt matter if I'm an specialist in x or y, if we can't have z done. It's better to have x,y and z done, and perhaps distribute tasks and learn as the need comes than define myself as an X developer and limit my growth in a tech that may become obsolete, or may not be used cause Y is not being developed fast enought because there' not enough people in there.

Being a Jack of All Trades gives my team more results than being an Ace of Spades. Of course there is space for Ace's, but frankly, there are many ways to achieve the same goals, and usually you can do more if you are open minded.

Yes, I think I’m a lot closer to you as a developer. I like that this thread about “the value of generalists” has opened my eyes to the red for all types on a team. But I think if the industry was more honest, they would say that generalists have long been considered an anti-pattern. I for one am happy to meet another fellow “jack of all trades.” :)
