It was a whirlwind - went by so quickly, learned way more than I thought possible, and now I have a solid foundation of Ruby, JavaScript and quite a few frameworks. There will ALWAYS be more to learn, but Flatiron really set me up for success. If you have more q's, always happy to chat further - let me know!

Hi Travis! Sounds like you're doing the right thing - practicing. Exactly how I started, too. I dabbled with freeCodeCamp to make sure I enjoyed learning to code, and from there, pursued formal education to keep myself focused and honest. Here's hoping you continue practicing and learning!

My advice: don’t do it, run away!
No seriously, go for it and take it step by step.
My first advice based on 25 years in software development: technology is cool, but before adopting a technology or writing a piece of software, first think of what your customer needs. We technology driven software developers tend to over complicate things by our addiction to ‘new stuff’.

U can follow this courses to start. After your free online course finished you can try to install a text editor on your computer.After my course online I did that and now too I still learning HTML and CSS by watching videos on YouTube. You can start by learning in the website first after that u can watch videos on YouTube u will understand well because videos because u already finished with the website courses. U can watch tutorial videos on YouTube and follow ur courses the same time if u want.

Have a mini project in mind, choose which programming language you want to build that project on and learn the aspects that are required to build that project. You will learn by building. Good luck!

Hi Mohamed! Welcome to DEV :)
Starting with html and css is a great way to get started - just start making things that you like! You can find a whole bunch of tutorials online you can follow, but I would also give yourself time to just play around and explore what you can do.
Once you feel a little bit confident with basic html and css, you can start looking at javascript, which allows your websites to become more interactive.
If you want to try out some online code "playgrounds" you can check out codepen.io or codesandbox.io - which both have some great templates and a neat online environment for playing around.

My best advice is to find some project that you're passionate about and try to make it happen! Pretty soon you'll want to do something but won't know how, so google for that and find that answer. Then keep going until you hit another roadblock, and google for that answer :)
It can be super frustrating while you're doing it - but eventually you'll have to start googling less and less, and then you can move on to more advanced challenges!
So the best advice I have is: know that it's going to be hard, but keep building little interesting projects anyway :)

Hej ! My name is Pascal - you can call me Pasi ! I don't remember how exactly I found this DEV community, but I'm glad I did.
I started to actively self-learn and use code about 4 years ago when it finally made 'click' , during a job I started at back then (Fair to say I already collected lots of experience with HTML/CSS and yes, ActionScript, when I was ... 13 ? - but haven't started to actively "learn" how to code).
A year ago I was offered a new position within the same company which would involve mostly "code" and gave me the freedom to continue learning and using what I am interested in. My position now pivots on 'data automation' , 'software dev' and 'live graphics' in the area of live media/broadcast and streaming.
Currently I am learning C++ since one of my biggest dreams is to create my own video game. Hopefully this community can continue to motivate me on doing so.

Now that the local job markets are evolving and every company wants to have their website, I thought it would be a nice idea to move towards web development with Javascript (front and back ends)! I'm also interested in learning also Containerization with Docker/Kubernetes and DevOps tools because that fosters the idea of app-agnostic environments.

Hello World! I've been working as a life insurance agent for the last 2 years but I have been playing with code for the last 20. With all of the extra time on my hands I have been doing Udemy lessons and freecodecamp.org for HTML, CSS, and currently JavaScript.

I am went to graduate school for Cybersecurity (love technology and a self taught full stack web developer (started with .NET framework and C# and C++ basics) that also is a web designer (used WordPress first years ago along with wix). programming started out as a hobby What brought me to Dev was finding some articles during my learning for my curiosity, wanting to write, studying and web surfing for web development and learning the technologies related to it. I started my learning years ago and I am currently trying to find my niche in programming and what my specialization. Also make more bigger projects along with passion projects. I been learning Java and more about Spring and Angular. also more advanced topics and testing myself with problem solving.
